I'll start - stupid 3 on AP Chem. They made the test harder AND the curve harder. Those stupid FRQs completely ruined me.

respect for not blaming your teacher.

I got a 40/40 on the NLE, but I got a 2 on the AP Latin exam. :(

MODERATOR’S NOTE: I’m noticing a lot of filtered profanity on the AP results threads, so keep in mind that it’s not permitted on CC.

I also got a 3 on chem and am very disappointed… I didn’t even know the test was new this year until the night before so I was reviewing reactions which I didn’t need at all. Sigh.

3 on both AP lit and AP lang… I got a 1/9 on the final essay for lit, so that is my fault. I did feel like I got a 4/5 on AP lang so I’m not sure what happened there

@Patton370 were the two tests (Lit and Lang) similar in terms of difficulty?

Btw same as the OP… darn 3 on ap chem. oh well, I wasn’t planning on majoring in a STEM field anyways, since I’m not good at science in general

Got a 3 on AP Lit this year (poetry sucks!) which is very disappointing (especially considering I got a 5 without much studying on AP language) but not entirely unexpected.

Honestly, I’m still most upset about my 4 on AP Calculus AB last year. Out of all 8 exams I’ve taken, I undoubtedly put the most effort into this one. I studied a LOT and worked very hard. But, aside from AP Lit, it’s my worst score. Also, my college has two calculus classes (one for engineering majors and one for business/premed/etc) - and my 4 only got me credit for the business/premed calc class, so I have to retake Calc I to get the right credit anyways. Just another reason I’m disappointed that my hard work for AP Calc didn’t pay off!

I got a 3 on AP Literature, 3 on AP Chemistry, and a 1 on AP Computer Science. I thought I did pretty well on AP English Lit, and knew that only a handful of people pass AP CS from my school each year anyway.

As a sophomore I only took 2 AP classes (irregular for my school, most students never see an AP exam in their life) and did exceedingly well in class and on practice tests. I practice-tested to get 5s on both Lit and Lang but was disappointed to get two 4s. It’s just frustrating because I worked so hard in and out of class!!

@Jarjarbinks23

I thought both tests were similar… I did well in both classes probably because I took the classes concurrently and they are very similar as far as material. Hoe this helps :)

*note; I only studied material that we received in class, I did not use any outside resources i.e. study guides/books

I got a 3 on AP English Comp. I thought I had nailed it. Seriously. I LOVED THAT CLASS. But oh well. I got a 2 on the APUSH test and that’s kind of okay with me because I didn’t think I was gonna pass anyway. I got a 4 on AP Bio and I didn’t even take the class! Haha. And what I’m most proud of is my 5 on AP Spanish Literature. :)

Remember to input your scores here if you haven’t done so already: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PWHeSI54o-8I6OPoJxwFxjcFDRX_YzDZogQP0h76TEI/edit#gid=0

I got a two on the AP Lit exam. Darn poetry! I knew I wasn’t passing that test. Is it only me or was the exam this year a good 70% poetry? Would have predicted at least another prose reading or two.

I’m really not that frustrated about my grade. Last year, I took APUSH and scored the same, but I thought I had a three which was upsetting. Figured it was not worth it to get all twisted again. Also, I registered for first semester classes more than a month ago and thanks to ratemyprofessor, I found a REALLY good english prof for Comp 1. Couldn’t signed up for Comp 2 with the lack of confidence I had in this test. Laugh at me, but I am happy with the way things turned out. I’m excited to be in this certain class with this professor!

Personally, I do not believe in the CollegeBoard. I do not believe in the SAT and AP testing. The SAT to me is a load of garbage. A four hour sitting means the same, if not more than a four year curriculum? I don’t think so! As for AP, there tend to be other options for college credit. I took three college courses throughout high school. There’s no standardized test. Show up to class, study for exams, write papers, take a midterm and final, receive a certain grade and earn credit- it’s the real deal! The perk of it is, six out of my nine credits were FREE! Can’t beat that! CollegeBoard helped me in no shape or form for college. My school could care less about these exams. :)

@artsyfartsy96: Before you go on another rant against the College Board, let me remind you that the SAT and AP exams are designed to standardize assessment. High school and college classes are not the same throughout the country, but SAT/AP scores are an objective measure of performance.

@DiscipulusBonus That is very true, which maybe the reason why the CommonCore was implemented into school curriculums. I think course rigor is important, but when I applied to schools it only seemed that it wasn’t. Just wondering, how did the CollegeBoard help you? It only gave me stress and anxiety. Fun.

@artsyfartsy96: I think course rigor is definitely important. For me, the College Board is extremely beneficial. I am a homeschooled student, so standardized testing is one of only a few ways for me to “prove” my academic competence to colleges. My course rigor is undeniably intense, but without standardized testing I could just be some guy who did nothing for four years and wrote a fake transcript in a few hours.

EDIT: I’m also taking a class at my local community college, but I would not have been allowed to if not for my high ACT and AP scores.

@DiscipulusBonus Again, very true. You see, that is where I think the SAT should be optional. In my situation, it ruined my application. I graduated my junior year with a 3.8 w GPA and was in a rigorous program. Lots of ECs, over 600 service hours. Wonderful recs and strong essays. I’m just not well with standardized testing. I perform exceptionally well on my exams in school. When I told people that I only scored a 1590/2400 on the SAT, they were surprised. I wasted so much money on tutoring and it stressed me out more than anything else. When I was on the hunt for a tutor I was told that I should have at least a 680 on each section. I was nowhere near such a score. My highest was a 560 in math. It only hurt me, but in your case, it helped you. I hope it dies down and does become optional.
