AP Tests and SAT Subject Tests

If anyone has experience with this, please comment below. I was wondering if the SAT Subject Tests for given subjects align nicely with their respective AP courses. I’m taking AP US History, as well as AP Spanish and AP Physics. Would it be a good idea to take the SAT subject tests in these subjects too? How much extra work/studying do you think would be required?

The subject test in physics covers a wide range of topics at the regular high school physics level. AP physics 1 and 2 cover these topics in greater depth. So, if you have not had a regular high school physics course, you would need both to cover the SAT subject test, because just one of them would be missing some topics.

For Spanish and us history, this would be the time to take the SAT subject test. You won’t need additional prep.

I took the US history subject test the day after the AP test and I thought the content was extremely similar

Agree with APUSH and Spanish. The subject test in Physics contains more material than in typically covered in AP Physics 1. Would definitely recommend some extra prep for that subject test.

I have only taken US History but my opinion is that the subject test has the same material, but is extremely detail-oriented, whereas the AP Exam is more focused on the general concepts in US History. Lots of my friends got a 5 on the AP Exam but were cooked on the subject test (710, 730, 740, 750, etc.)

710 to 750 is not cooked, whatever that means.

Lol, our school is really competitive so we probably have a much higher standard than most other people. I guess “cooked” means screwed, idk (its our slang)
