How big of a rold do AP tests play? If you get an A or a B in the class, do they care if you took the exam or not? Anybody have any first hand experience on applying w/o the tests?

I'm extremely concerned about this, too. I tried too hard for my results to be like this.

I've heard that the most selective schools don't count the AP classes unless you take the test, but I can't speak specifically for Cornell.

You definitely have to take the test

From what I hear, Colleges hate it when you take an AP course but not the test. I mean, it does make sense, why take the course if you weren't planning on taking the exam? It makes it seem like you weren't prepared for the exam, and that you received a good grade in the class because of your teacher.

I agree, Natalya. It gives the impression that your courses shouldn't have been called AP if they weren't up to the national standard that prepares you for the test.
