<p>Hmm…no, at least according to my teacher haha. She told us that the British only taxed the colonists because they felt the colonists were liable to pay for their own war, which didn’t appease the colonists. I’m sure it wasn’t a big portion of your DBQ though haha. How do you think you did?:></p>
<p>No, pinksoysauce is right, the British in England were taxed, and at a much higher rate than the colonists. For example, stamp taxes had already been in place for decades for the people of England. The Stamp Act just forced the colonists to pay, at a much lower rate, the tax that most Englishmen had already been paying.</p>

<p>I’m actually not in an official APUSH class - I’m at an IB school so I’m taking the rough IB equivalent, which is PIB U.S. History. I’m a sophomore.</p>
