***AP US GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS THREAD 2015-2016***

About recent heated rulings popping up on the test- they won’t. Sure, some concepts might show up, but the cases and issues themselves won’t show up due to the issues not yet being “settled”. I believe the test has used the affordable care act, but even campaign finance reform has yet to show up on the exam (to the ire of my teacher) since Citizen’s United.

My S just found out that he got a 5 and highly recommends the Crash Course book.

My teacher is a very hard teacher and grader so we were assigned 2 textbooks to buy and 2 books to read over the summer. I’ve heard this is an easy class if study, know the court cases and other important information, and read your textbook. Fingers crossed for everyone! Hope I end up pulling a 5 on the exam for this class!

Even though I crowded my free response paper with haikus, seating diagrams of my test room, and chipotle orders, the graders still managed to afford me a 5. I would love to help y’all with this course this year as politics and government is my second passion.

I got a 5 on the exam. I used Baron’s book (read it all…twice) and I think that is what made the difference between a four and a five.

A huge politics nerd, taking this next year (online though) as a Senior along with Lit, HuG, and Econ.

@2016senior I have to write little essays explaining and stating my opinion on 4 different news articles involving the US government for my summer assignment. Super easy.

Have to read a book/define political axioms with examples from the book, and keep tabs on the news/SCOTUS cases. Kind of lengthy, along with my assignments from 4 other APs… -.-’ Oh well, still excited for the class! What book(s) is/are recommended for the course of the school year, if any? I’m definitely getting cc for the exam, but for the course in general?

Everywhere that I’ve seen so far has great reviews for the AMSCO APUSH book as a companion…AMSCO apparently has a book for AP US Gov’t too (http://www.amscopub.com/united-states-government-and-politics). Does anyone think it’s worth the buy?

I’m taking this class but I don’t have it til second semester!

I’m taking this class too! Our teacher didn’t formally assign us anything but recommended us to read the Constitution and the Federalist Papers

I have to read for summer hw… But super excited! I hope I get this class first semester.

AP Gov is only a second semester course at my school! And I’m currently taking regular gov (summer school credit) so I hope I can adjust smoothly when 2nd semester comes around… Whats a good prep book for the class?

Second semester. See you all in December!

Hey! How’s everyone’s class so far? For me, whenever we talk about government itself the class is insanely boring…but when we’re talking about politics/current events it’s great (well, it is a freak show of an election this year—that certainly helps).

My teacher is really fun, literally spend half the class everyday talking about news/elections.

Problem is, not learning much lol

What unit is everybody on? We just finished polling

I’m a full IB Diploma student so this is my first AP class, and I’m a senior. Talk about awkward.

@deeznuts Kinda like my class too :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re pretty far behind, we’re on federalism…

We’re not going in order, but we’ve covered the basics of the Constitution, federalism, political parties, media, and interest groups. Test Thursday over the last three.

We just finished civil liberties and now we’re on civil rights. The class was boring in the beginning, but now I’m really starting to like it. Whenever we have class discussions it definitely makes it more interesting.
