AP US HIstory or AP English 11

Okay…
I was wondering for weeks now…I don’t know if I should take AP History of AP English??? I really suck at English for it is not my first language, but I still wanted to challenge myself… excuse grammar  In the other hand I am really good at history because history IS my favorite subject. The problem is that my friends are trying to discourage me and my counselor is being an “@#$” about me taking 5 APs this year. He kept telling me I would fail…and blah blah blah…which really made me worry and hurt :frowning:
Also many people told me that even if you take AP Us history class in high school, it wouldn’t help me in college…they say that history wouldn’t be in much use in college or for the college major I’m interested at. (Medical) But in contrast I heard that history class are taken for the first 4 years of college…I don’t know.

But for anyone who took the AP US history and AP English…which one at less harder?

You do NOT take history for 4 years haha. Most colleges have distributional requirements so you would have to take some courses from the social sciences - that can be history, psych, econ, or something else.

Remember that Medical is not a major. If you want to be a doctor, you go to medical school, which is a professional school. To get in, you generally need a 4 year undergraduate degree. Your major won’t be “pre-med” either - that’s a track. Medical schools require that you take certain courses, and the premed track ensuers that you take these courses. You can major in chemistry or biology or something like that while taking bio, chem, calc, and whatever else is required for the pre-med track.

I don’t think you will fail. US History is a tough exam but it’s not impossible. If you put in the effort, you will be fine. AP English Lang is a tough exam as well and you need to practice a lot of writing and analyzing. From what you’ve written, I think your English is good enough to join the course and learn from. If you love history, then you should do take that.

APUSH is not hard. It’s just all memorization. The writing part is also not so bad. You can get like 5/9 on all three essays and still get a 5.

I suck at English too, but I took AP Eng anyway. Why? Because my counselor wasn’t there on the last day that you can drop the course…so i was stuck with it. =.= But I manage to pass the class. Though, even presently I don’t think I should’ve taken it. The lvl of difficulty for AP Eng is harder than the SAT’s. If you struggle with the reading section of the SAT, then you’ll struggle even more with AP. If you do well on the critical reading, then give AP Eng a try.

To be safe, I think APUSH would be your best bet.

APUSH usually involves a lot of work since you have to know U.S. history from colonial time to the present. So, that class is dependent on your work ethics.

AP English Language requires your ability to write and read at a higher level and it’s more difficult in terms of skills rather than of work ethics.

Usually in college, the first two years is when you fulfill your GE requirements and passing the AP US History exam may fulfill some GE credits.

I would recommend that you take APUSH since it is your favorite subject.
