About the short answer question 2 part B AND C is there anything else except the intermarriage and relation with Native American difference we can wrote for?
For the DBQ on women’s rights, the outside information I brought in was the growth of the suburbs (conformity, baby boom) in the 1950s and the following counterculture, Roe v. Wade, and The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan. For synthesis, I mentioned that in the early days of the U.S. women like Abigail Adams were urging political leaders to keep women in mind while they created the new government. I was pretty lucky with this prompt b/c I had written a DBQ on women’s rights from 1890-1925 just a few weeks prior, so I already had my synthesis ready.
For the long essay on WWI, I basically argued that although U.S. entry into WWI was unusual b/c the U.S. was historically isolationist, foreign policy didn’t change significantly especially b/c entry was somewhat forced. To support that, I mentioned German submarines and the sinking of the Lusitania, the Zimmerman Note, the isolationism of the 1920s (I mistakenly called it diplomatic isolationism instead of independent internationalism), anti-war songs like “I Didn’t Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier,” mourning following WWI reinstating isolationism, the staunch isolationism immediately preceding Pearl Harbor, and the failure of Wilson’s League of Nations. I said that the U.S. didn’t really become internationalist until the Cold War when the U.S. was dedicated to containing communism to protect human rights around the world.
@neptuna Okay u sound like you aced it! Wow so good. And I am just wondering-how much/when did you start studying?
@peacelove77 I hope so! Thanks! I started studying early April. I used the Princeton Review and made Quizlet sets that I studied as I wrote them. I didn’t do much else, and honestly, I actually forgot a lot. I really lucked out with the prompts I got.
I wrote about how the English established their colonies as religious safe havens, whereas the Spanish established theirs as missionary outposts.
@masquerade98 do you if I write Spanish focus the establishment of colony as a symbol of their power and empire, but British is building colony as a organized-society with settlement to allow more and more people to come. Do you whether this can be a difference.
@masquerade98 I don’t remember 100%, but I feel like it was form O. Are you on east coast, west coast or another part of the US?
@joannne23 hmm…maybe this version was distributed more to the east coast. I have no idea though
Since most people thought this test was fairly easy/manageable, I’m scared that the curve will be extra harsh this year. My teacher said Collegeboard sent out a mass email to teachers stating that this test was the most comprehensive test to date, whatever that means.
@lamebridge if it was the most comprehensive test to date, wouldn’t that imply that it’s harder/tested on a more broader range than previous tests? in that case wouldn’t the curve be less harsh ?
@lamebridge I’m east coast, and we had form Q
The reason the curve may be less harsh is because people are feeling like they scored more points overall. For example, the median score last year may have been 60%, while this year it may be 70%, leading to a harsher curve.
Does anyone know how the sentiments after the exam for this year compare with those of last year?
Probably a lot more optimistic as u can obviously see
@fhgeogng I took the exam last year as a junior and again this year as a senior. I found this exam to be much, much easier than the one last year, but that may have to do with the amount that I studied. This was also the first exam of the new format, so I don’t know how that factored into the difficulty.
@lazerquest Why did you take the test twice? Do you mind sharing your score from last year or talking about the new format?
Last year I received a three, but my college only gives credit for a four. I felt like I earned a high three and at my high school, if you take three AP exams the school will pay for the fourth and above. The format for the short answer questions had an extra five minutes this year. Section two lost the five minutes. If you look at the released questions from the past two tests, I found this years to be much easier. I also studied on my own which may have contributed to my difficulty.
@lazerquest Just to clarify, your high school and your college permitted retaking the test? If you don’t mind me asking, what college is yours? Did you study and prepare for the test after you received your college decisions and did that determine why you decided to take it twice? Thanks!
what happens if I forgot to indicate which question I was answering on every page except for the first page of each of my free responses ?
I also skipped a full page ( front and back) in between the 2 responses by accident and didnt realize till afterwards
would i get points taken off for that ?
Probably not… The AP graders might get annoyed at you for it, but you wouldn’t lose points for it.
Recently found out that there is somewhat of a cheating scandal concerning the APUSH exam at my school. Hoping that scores (currently frozen) aren’t cancelled. Furious at the kids who might ruin it for the rest of us, especially because many students at my school take APUSH…
@ifitkeepsraining What do you mean? Will you please elaborate on this cheating scandal?
