@otrastudying Same. I had all of them except the first one.
Does anyone know if I get the outside knowledge point from a good synthesis or does it have to be about the prompt? I had the one released on collegboard, I used slavery as a synthesis and how even after it was over there were still struggles faced with sharecropping and segregation and how it related to the financial struggles faced with independence (btw is this good I elaborated for a paragraph but idk if it’s a stretch). I compared slave owners to Britain and slaves to colonists. The only outside knowledge on the prompt I put was colonists were tired of britains tyrannical rule and taxes, in the third paragraph, but I’m not sure if that would just be contextualization. I’m talking about the dbq.
@Tobster18 Yeah, my first short answer question was about American-European-African relations. The rest were the same ones posted on the College Board website.
For the DBQ synthesis, I made a strange connection so I’m nervous if I will get the point. I connected the document with the House of Burgesses asking the king to fix the issues as they believed the king was just, but the parliament was corrupt to the Boshin War in Japan as many people wanted to get the support of the Emperor who they believed to be just to oppose the Tokugawa Shogunate, who many people started to believe was corrupt and ineffective. Was this too much of a stretch?
No not at all that sounds pretty good @Cwizkid
Actually pretty nervous to get my scores back, I think I misinterpreted some of the documents and on the leq periodization I only talked about what changed and only explained what stayed the same with one example in one sentence so I probably wont get the point
Anyone know why the cut off for a 5 is rising? I looked on the collegeboard website and using a scoring worksheet, the cut off is 101, which is significantly higher than last year (93).
It was was most likely lower to have a smooth transition since the materials were limited for the new testing.
If they really did raise the cutoff, that would suck.
I took the make-up exam this year for APUSH on the 17th of May. I got Form A. Did anyone else get that? I’m actually pretty glad that I got that form because it didn’t have any FRQs dedicated solely to feminism like Form O’s, the one released on Collegeboard, DBQ was. I feel relatively confident on the short answers, dbq, and leq but I’m not sure what to expect from the multiple choice. I just hate how you pay so much for the exams and all you get back is one single number. It bugs me that I can’t even see the numbers for each essay. I’m just hoping that the curve is lenient this year. Hope everyone luck when the scores come out!
I need some of your guys’ opinions. I argued that the Proclamation changed the ‘you know which’ War because before it, the War was fought more for political and economical reasons than for social reasons. Lincoln cared more about the potential growth for the South’s power in the federal government and the potential for South’s plantation to expand if slavery was brought to the other states. I did say that history is complicated and there were a few exceptions. For example, Harriet Beecher Stowe who advocated for abolition of slavery for the whole by publishing her book. Then I said that after the Proc., it became a war for slavery. Do you guys think that I was too extreme in saying this? I don’t think I gave abolitionists enough credit. What’s your opinion. By the way, if you guys think this post is too specific about the prompts, let me know- I don’t want to get my scores cancelled. Thanks for your input!
@LazyRay - I am an APUSH teacher. You are correct to say that as the war went on, Lincoln changed the focus- turning more to the moral cause of abolition of slavery to justify the sacrifices being made
@toowonderful - Phew! I was confident when I wrote that LEQ but then after the test I started overthinking it. Hopefully all goes well… thanks for the input!
I may be overthinking this but I have a question about the SAQ about the scalwags/carpetbaggers that was released. For part A, I accidentally put “Radical Republicanism” instead of “Radical Reconstrustion” - do you think the graders will still count this?
@otrastudying - the republicans in congress during reconstruction were often called the radical republicans. I can’t say what the college board will do- but I would give you credit if I was grading it for my students
CB is getting rid of synthesis for AP Histories next year:

Thanks for the heads up!
wow, if only they did that for this year’s exam. what a bummer
@shaneyboy123 Personally, I’m not sure if the change is all too great. It sounds easier since there’s no synthesis but does that mean that the frq’s other points will be harder to hit? Also, I Iiked having the option of being able to choose which LEQ you wanted to do. The extra 10 minutes for the FRQ’s sound nice though.
i’m not sure. the synthesis is supposed to be the most commonly missed point I think just because teachers don’t typically do a good job teaching it. definitely like the time extension though because it puts more emphasis on writing a well-developed essay and not just trying to hit a bunch a points off a rubric. @LazyRay
I got a 5!
