what would look better in the eyes of a college?

what if that class was taken at Yale?

what if that class was taken at Yale?

Generally, AP classes are better. AP courses are pretty universal (and externally assessed), so colleges know what you've learned. There are so many colleges that your college(s) may not know how well college X teaches psychology.

Take the AP class. I was in the same delima as you.

If you are talking HYPS or the equivalent then by all means take AP. However, if you are talking about almost any other school, I would go with the college class. Why?

With AP you must get a "3" or above to get credit. Sadly more and more colleges require even higher scores and some don't give credit for any score or put limits on the amount of credit that they will give. You REALLY need to check out the policy of the schools that you are considering.

Taking college courses give you more varied options, and all you need to do is get a "C" in the course to normally get credit. There are exceptions. For example, some colleges won't give you credit if the college course that you are taking replaces a required high school course. However, it is usually easier to get college credit and usually schools will take more credits from accredited colleges than that of APs. Again, check the colleges that you will be applying to.

im not taking the college course to use for college credit...

i was just wondering what looks better...

btw, im entering my senior year...

AP always looks better. Sometimes though, you just have no choice. i.e. scheduling conflicts, poor AP program, etc.

If, however, you come from a high school with an established AP program, and students take them and get 4s and 5s. ADCOM wants to see APs on the transcript.

thanks to everyone that replied, i really appreciate ur input..

if i drop the AP pyschology, i would be able to take Calc I at yale AND take pysc. at southern...

Take Calc I at yale.

AP Psychology does not look good. It's universally regarded as the least rigorous, least useful AP. Avoid it.
