I have taken AP just this year. IB is a two-year program, rigorous, from what I hear. AP is single subject, you choose classes, its not really a comprehensive program. I personally enjoy APs.
IB is more reading and writing intensive than AP and you dont get to pick and choose classes as much. So STEM kids sometimes like AP more (at least that’s what CC says)
AP is more widely accepted and you get more credit. And you don’t have to deal with all that writing stuff.
AP is not more widely accepted than IB and you don’t necessarily get more credit. But it is important to do the IB Diploma.
For example, at SUNY BInghamton:

Students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program may receive up to 32 credits. To receive the full 32 credits, the following conditions must be met:
The IB Diploma must be completed with a score of 30 or more points; and
The student must complete at least three Higher Level exams with a score of 5 or higher.
Diploma holders who meet these conditions receive credit for their individual exam scores plus additional liberal arts elective credit to total 32 credits.
