Help with Change Over Time Essays please.

Starting Princeton…I guess 1 era per week or bad idea?

I don’t have the Princeton, but I do have the Barron’s and Kaplan, and as far as Barron’s goes, it’s divided into 33 chapters…I plan on reading one a day for the next 33 days. There’s still a lot of time left…don’t go crazy-just focus on 15-20 pages or so per day!

I plan on becoming best friends with this thread.

I also have a few stats prep books to go through also…don’t know I’m gonna manage.

I’m wondering if it’s better to read the whole book first (Princeton Review) and then slowly go through each section or just continue reading as I’ve done while taking in the info?

So far I’ve read Ancient Stuff and Really Old Stuff, but I’m already forgetting the details so I figured it would be best to start over again.

In class we’ve only done DBQs, so help on how to do the other types of essays would be great too.

@imwishing73 - I agree with you on that one, lol.

Im making a timeline…
We just finished ww1 in class.

Are you all taking sat 2’s as well?

QuillandScroll-If you own the book, highlight key facts as you’re reading. I’ve found that I pay more attention to the reading if I’m forced to do that, and then, when you’re done, you can just go back and read the highlighted stuff to give you key points.

@imwishing73 - Yeah, I highlight now…except I get too carried away and highlight more than key facts. I need to teach myself how to focus on the bigger picture, especially when I’m memorizing more content.

I’m self-studying and I know the basic ideas and stuff, and I think I’m pretty set for the multiple choice. I’m just really worried about the FRQs/DBQ. Ugh. Any suggestions?

DBQs are the easiest of the 3 FRQs if you know how to do them. What I suggest is just study what exactly you need to do in each essay (i.e. POV, grouping, thesis, support, use of documents, additional document) and do a couple practice ones. The other two require learned knowledge… just study the rubrics for those as well.

Genreally: Rubric, rubric, rubric, practice. If you know what you have to do in each, they will be pretty easy.

im just worried about the time constraints for the FRQs

links to sample essays?
i feel pretty confident about the MCQs, but in essays we self grade, and so i’m not sure.

does anyone have ANY idea how to organize a CCOT essay? >.>

My teacher said if the question was (for example)

“Analye the changes and continuities in the level of scientific and technological advancement in Western Europe between 1450 and 1750.”

you would select two “themes” to relate the science and tech advancements to. For example, a paragraph topic sentence would be

“The increased level of scientific advancement in the early modern age transformed the significance of Western European religion in daily life.”

Like, the prompt talks about “science and tech” but you would have to relate it to two other themes (one of them I chose was religion, in the above topic sentence). Is this the way you’re supposed to be organizing your essay?

ok guys, this is my first post and my first ap test…so please dont yell at me for what im gonna say. my class textbook is “the earth and its people a global history”, i have never even read a page (let alone a chapter) in the book, i am running out of time here. what do you think i should do? should i read 2 chapters on the weekdays and 3 on the weekends, that way i have remaining 2 more weeks, and with those 2 weeks i can use the PR. i also habe the 5 steps to a 5, please, someone tell me the schedule i should be following.

Post 1 on this thread has some really good resources. I think you should download the released tests asap. Then go to AP Central and study the top level essays. Good luck!
