how well do u have to do on the MC part to score a 5, assuming that u wrote all ur essays very well. Also, where can u get the best review for the ap world exam?? im talking about ANY kind of review and prep, doesnt matter if its a prep-class, prep-books, online sites etc..... THANKS

This is based off the scoring for an in-class practice AP I had a few weeks ago. Let's start with the essays. Assume you got 7 on all three (basic core)

72.2222 = 15.5554
72.2222 = 15.5554
7*2.2222 = 15.5554

= 46.6662

MC score = [number correct - 1/4(number incorrect)]*.869 (that constant might be a little off)

The composite score for a five on this particular year exam was 78-120. You already have 46.6662 points from the essays, so you need 31.3338 more from the MC. (.869*x) = 31.3338? Roughly 36.

So, you need 36 points from the multiple choice for a 5, assuming you get all 7's. However, that DOES NOT mean 36 correct. You do have a scoring penalty. If you got 36 correct and 34 wrong, that's 19 points. To play it safe, you should aim for 45-50+ multiple choice correct.

The best prep:
If you need a major review: Barrons
Just a refresher: Princeton Review

Pretty well. Even if your essays are good, it really depends on the grader and whether they think you address the task. So, your best bet is to really step up the MC...less subjective in grading.

is the princeton review practice test accurate?? it seems pretty hard.

my teacher just told me the released stats for 2002

who got a 5 they dropped 10 questions so everything below is out of 60
41-50: 70%
31-40: around 30-40% i think
less than 31: .3%

PR's tests are harder than the real thing, so I am told.

i like the kaplan book better...pronceton in my opinion is mediocre in quality but ive been told proncerton is the best

I have a Kaplan loyalty to SAT.

I have a PR loyalty to APs, but it's slowly starting to shift to Sparknotes.

Cliffsnotes is invading in my loyalty to Sparknotes literature summaries.
