AP World History

Anyone have any guesses on what topic the essays or DBQ might be on?

my guess: indian ocean maritime trade.

question on silk road was asked a few years ago, my teacher told me. so was tracing buddhism (last year, so they probly wont ask about religion), so was gender (2 years ago).

but then again, we cant tell, cuz world history hasnt been around long enough for us to see trends, yet.

What percent do I need for a 5, or 4 for that matter?

it was trade 3 years ago
then immigration 2
last year was buddhism...

no clue what this year will be or the grading curve

it was the EASIEST AP I took last year

didnt read the book
didnt take the class
got a 5 and an 800 satII

I just read National Geographic and used some of my ap euro stuff

really, the dbq on this test is SO much easier to analyze than other tests

also, this test asks for slightly different stuff, you're supposed to say what additional information would be helpful by way of primary source documents

I dont care what essay question they ask as long as it involves either Russia, or South Asia. I will be happy then :).

hahaha....i took the test 2 hrs agoOTL

Awesome. I am taking the test in exactly 5 hours and 29 minutes.

well. good luck to everyone! i'm off to study com sci! and statistics!

i just took the test too. i thought it was quite hard :(... does anyone what the cutoffs for 2, 3, 4, 5 are?

No worries caesar. As for the cutoffs for 5s you will need I think a raw score in the 70s. I dont have the test that they released (the first AP world test). Damn I hoped it wasnt hard.

70s out of how many points?

I heard World History AP is more geared for sophomores compared to other APs which are meant to be taken by mostly juniors and seniors. I took World History sophomore year non-AP, self-studied this year and took the AP 4 hours ago. Not bad at all.

the collegeboard hasn't released an official scale, so seriously, how are we suposed to tell our scores??????? sigh

mahras, by 70 do you mean, 70% of 120 -> 84 or 70 as in raw score out of 120 (as written in PR)?

I took a yesterday...lol I didn't know this thread existed! But yeah I have the 2002 curve so it might be a good reference. Here it is:

78-120 --> 5
62-77 --> 4
43-61 --> 3
27-42 --> 2
0-26 --> 1

I thought the 2005 test wasn't that bad. I self studied this course as a sophomore and it's also the first AP exam I self studied for. Apart from the expensive exam fee, self studying AP's is actually pretty fun! LOL I'm weird -_- haha.

lol so if you got 1/2 of the MC right and 1/2 of the essay points you pass...

:-X

thank you so much, for the curve oasis!!!!! ive been dying to know what the curve is, to calculate my score. That is one lenient curve, to get a 5, you only need 65% correct?? i agree with you oasis, self-studying is a little bit fun to a certain extent :D...

Wait, how is it out of 120 points? Shouldn't it be 97?

"Once the Multiple-Choice section of your test has been scanned and your essay scored by readers, ETS applies a mysterious formula that converts your raw score numbers to a 120-point scale. Somehow how they turn 70 possible multiple choice points into 60 points and 27 possible essay points into another 60 points."

Quote- PR World History Review Book.

Are we allowed to talk about the essays now, its been 2 days since i took the exam (i live in Japan)!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah caesar, I live in Taiwan, so I'm just one time zone away from you =) But I'm waiting until they give me my FRQ back to be sure.
