Since i have no room to take any AP coarses, should i just take AP online during the summer. I am a rising sophmore, and i mean the next summer.
Also which class do you think is more beneficial, AP Euro or AP Art History.
Do colleges frown if you take a AP class online, also is it more difficult?

Right now, I'm taking AP Art History online and love it!!! You work at your own pace and theres always a teacher there if you don't understand something. It isn't very easy though. All the slides are MURDER!!!!!!! AH!!!!!! Colleges don't care if it was online or in class. imo the online class is easier considering they give you 2 chances (at least) on everything!!!! I actually did an exam about 20 times until I got 100 (there was a glitch in the system :D). Art History is A LOT harder than Euro imo. Another advantage to online learning is that you can cheat w/o anyone knowing. You really should try to not to cheat the 1st time you do it though. I completely recommend AP Art History for an online class. The only bad thing about it is that it uses so much ink!!!!!

I'm starting to find that taking courses over the summer gets me burnt out, because I'm always worrying about some obligation or other.

Maybe if you could take the course for only part of the summer it might be a better idea.

It's an especially bad idea if you don't know what AP course you're planning on taking and just want to take the course for the sake of taking a course. (I've taken calculus I over the summer, but that was because it was a prereq for a course I was going to be placed in next year. Plus, it was fun stuff.)

Oh, and not to mention you probably won't get to take the AP test until May (I've heard of people taking AP tests at different times, but somehow I'm skeptical), so you'll have to remember everything from many, many months ago when you take the test.

Glad to hear you enjoy it Swim, are you taking the coarse just to prove that you can do college level work and trying to be a more competitive applicant or are you taking the coarse since its required?

I am thinking of taking it just to be more ''competitive'' Also i heard earning an A in a AP coarse, dramatically improves your GPA, thus resulting increase in rank.

I'm taking it because I was really interested in the subject and my school didn't offer it. The only thing I would say is hard about the class is that we have no tests. The only thing worth 100 points are our essays and projects.

Hey did this AP class increase your GPA? Also Did you take AP euro?
Which is more difficult?

well im still in the middle of the 1st semester, but if i get an A it'll raise my HPA/rank significantly!!I've never taken Euro, but people on CC say it' s pretty easy and art history makes you memorize a lot.

Art History IS memorization and so I European History. I would choose Euro over Art. But, online....I don't think Euro would fare as well as Art History.

Which class do you think is more appealing to Top-tier Colleges?
Also Swim, are you taking the AP Art History exam in school?

^ Doesn't matter. Top-tier colleges basically want you to go for something you're passionate about. If your passion is art go for art history; if your passion is history go for European history. If you're doing this as a charade to get into a top tier college, I suggest not doing it at all. Colleges look at what your school offers and what percentage of the APs offered you take. Taking an AP class online in an attempt to impress them isn't going to do anything.

PS. FLVS gives you the option of taking the AP test or not. If you decided to take it you have to register for the test at the high school you go to; if you're home schooled call the school board and they'll send you to one of them.

For your question SDSMS, yes. My school makes you take the AP exams or else you don't get you GPA weighted even if it was on FLVS.

How much do these classes usually cost? My school doesn't offer APs, but if the online classes cost a wad of dough then it's probably not worth it to take any.

I think each state has free online classes. I know florida does and i found the other sites once.

Not every state has a statewide virtual school.

It's free for Florida students, but if you're outside the state, it won't be worth it, considering it's likely you won't get any credit for the classes you take.

Where on Earth do you find this information? I've looked all over the Ohio Department of Education website and I didn't find anything on online classes. The only thing I found was that low-income students can get a reduced fee for the AP tests, which do no good unless you have a class to go with them.

Um, I don't think there's anything like Florida Virtual School or whatever for Ohio.

What website do you go to to take online AP's?
Man, I would love to take one over the summer or something.
I live in NY, btw.

Lol, this is just one more reason why Ohio is one of the worst states ever.

Woah, are there really online ap classes!?

I live in CA and I'd like to take some (maybe ap chem)..I don't care if they're free or not! I'm just worried that my school won't count them. At my school we're not allowed to take classes outside of school unless we're VERY lucky..

I wanted to take AP Physics at my school, but didn't make it.
Would it look weird if I took regular physics at school AND the physics course at a local community college?
