Hey guys, I posted this in the UC transfer section as well but I want more current UCLA students to see it. I was offered the margan apartments one bedroom/ 3 people as my housing offer. I was thinking of filing a CAR to get a plaza on campus. What do you guys think about this? Are those apartments nice and is it a better experience to live on campus for a year? Or was I lucky to get the apartment and should take it? Any advice helps!

im living in margan next year too… checked out the apartments weren’t too bad

O no way. Finally someone else in margan. Did you get to go inside cause I went to check them out too but only saw the outside. They are pretty close to westwood area and south campus which is a plus. What type of room did u get?

Yeah I saw inside… lot better than a plaza in my opinion (was in De Neve this year)… yeahh probably will still need a bike to go to campus no where near as close as some of the other apts and dorms… i got a double studio

Ya thats the only ****ty part was how far they are. But they do have a pool. How did u get in to check them out?

How did you like living in a plaza? Is it a fun experience everyone should have? Anyone please chime in!

If this is your first year at UCLA, (as a transfer), I’d say live on campus. It’s tighter digs, but it’ll be easier to meet people, and not having to cook is way underrated.

Its a fun experience if you want it to be. Meaning, each house has a floor government so even if your place is not particularly social (which is the case with at least sunset village plazas), as long as you take part in the floor activities, you will have a fun experience. I didn’t take advantage of that so I obviously did not get the entire experience. Ironically, going to apartments gave me a different experience that I enjoyed (aka it made me more proactive in getting the most out of my college life).

So if I do file a CAR request, which plaza usually has the most transfers and is the nicest building/location.

I believe most places in Sunset Village are filled with transfers. Specifically, Canyon Point has a lot of transfers and is pretty nice.

Thank you so much. This has been extremely helpful. I just have so many questions because once I file the CAR it is final. So i have one more How is living in a triple in the plaza. Is it really cramped or do you get used to it?
