Apartments Close to Campus?

Can any of you suggest apartments where I will be able to stay at with 2, most likely 4, people for $600/month? Also, is there a bulletin board where I will be able to look for others that are in need of an apartment?

if you're looking for a place starting this fall, I've got one for you.

lol mario with the apartment pimping again.

and nikkei- most people i know pay around $600 for shared rooms with 2 bedrooms. thats pretty standard at the big complexes and also in the independent buildings. if you want to be on the lease (and then sublet), just start walking around and looking at places. if you want to find people already in a unit with rooms to rent, check out the my.ucla forums, the lj community, and craigslist. these are also good places to go if you want to meet people before finding a place so you can all go on the lease, or something.

I forgot to mention, I heard from a friend that you usually have to sign a 1-year contract (Fall until end of Summer, I guess?). You can probably pay on a monthly basis, but it will be more expensive. Am I wrong?

Mariopuzo, what street do you live on? How close are you to campus?

12 month leases are standard. i haven't heard of many places around here doing 6 or 9 month leases, but if they do they will be more expensive. most people sublet during the summer if they don't stay. month to month is almost unheard of around here. the only way you could do that is if you subleased from someone and had a looser commitment.

there are a few places that do 6 or 9 month leases, but they're out of my price range, especially since I only have two roommates as of right now.

Anyhow, apartment is at 403 Landfair, 600 per month (starting in september), or
if you'd like to be there for this summer as well, its $550 per month for four people.

As for proximity, it's faster to get to the apartment than to Hedrick, so I'd say it's pretty close =P.

pm me if you're interested?

I have no idea where Landfair or Hedrick is.
Which side of campus is it on (east, north, west, south)?
Directions, please? :)

Anyhow, I may be interested.
Are you planning on keeping anyone?
I asked some of my friends and they, too, are looking for a place to stay at.
In other words, we'd prefer to stay together.

If you are wondering why I asked about paying on a monthly basis, I was THINKING about finishing up by the end of winter quarter, that is if I don't double major in History and just stick with one major instead.

allie,

What is the "lj community"?

landfair, gayley, etc are all on the west side of campus. hedrick is waaay north west at the top of the hill. there are only a few apartments on the east side of campus, hilgard is mostly sorority houses.

Thanks for all the helpful information, allie and mario.
It looks like I won't be hopping into an apartment unless I get a good financial aid package for next year...
I hate commuting...

hey, im a transfer looking for an apartment within biking range of campus. 500-650 would be ideal and in westwood would be sweet. i could really use suggestions on where to look, thanks!

pokoparis, look above.

Tuition is going up 7% next year...
