I was just wondering, how does everyone pay for there apartments? Do you guys just pay month to month using financial aide or what? How much do water/electricity usually run for you guys?

I share a room which makes it a TON cheaper than on/off campus dorms. We pay $1600 for 2bed/2bath with 2 stories split between 4. Utilities are pretty cheap. Electricity/Cable (all we have to pay) is around $150/month. We also get 2 parking spaces. Pretty good deal for me.

Will be looking for a new place when I come back, because our condo has been sold. -_-

Do you pay month to month with financial aide or all of it at the beginning of your lease?

We pay month to month. I don’t have financial aid, but my roommates do. There is a security deposit and 1st month rent due at the beginning of your lease. But you’ll get the deposit back after your lease is up and condo/apartment is in good condition.

What kind of fin aid are you talking about? If you are talking about the stuff through UT, you’ll get the extra money that is left after tuition like in September-ish and you just keep that money and use it you pay your rent and pay month to month like anyone else would.

You’ll probably have to pay the security deposit and at least one month of rent out of your own pocket before the check comes.

Uh I guess you could pay everything at the beginning if you wanted…

My utilities were $127 this month but there’s five of us so I only paid $25.

Yeah thats what i meant- the fin aid that UT sends you that is extra.
