Apartments?

So, I'm currently thinking about the plans for next year and was wondering about apartments off-campus. There's a lot of talk about the dorms, but I haven't seen a terrible amount of what happens off of it.

I live in Briscoe which is...expensive. I'm looking at either a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment and there are so many that it's a tad bit overwhelming to pick one (especially since everyone has something bad to say). I don't want to be terribly off campus, but I do have a car.

I've considered Park Doral or Campus Courts, but I don't know anyone who lives at them. Also would like suggestions / comments on other apartment buildings...

Sadly, it has always been a dream of mine to live downtown above a store or something, but I hear such terrible things about Deer Park Management who is the only place I know of that has places like Uptown Apartments. And something about being above a Panda Express...sounds a bit like it'd smell.

The link below is for Onestart Classifieds which has all the people looking for roommates and some apartments advertise there too. As far as places to live and people’s opinions? Well you’ll just have to visit the places you’re interested and find out about all the things you see. Sadly getting an exact description of the type of service is not ever going to be accurate with some people liking it and others hating it.

I’m happy with Dunnhill, across the street from the stadium. $600 per month (including $25 grad student discount) for a one-bedroom including cable, Internet and all utilities except electric (runs $60-$70 per month). Management has been good, noise hasn’t really been a problem and the convenience of being across the street from the A/X terminal can’t be beat. Wake up at 9 for a 9:30 class? No problem!

BF lives in Campus Courts (behind the Villas) and he loves it. Can get loud during Little 5, but other than that, relatively quiet for ugrad housing
