Apartments for next school year?

So this year I applied super late for dorm housing and now I really wish I had applied earlier. I definitely don't want to live in a dorm again next year, so I'm strongly considering an apartment. I want to know when to start applying/looking, and what are some good apartments close to or on campus.

PS-I'd love to bring my small puppy next year, and I know they don't allow that on campus but I'm wondering about any apartments close to campus?

Any help with this would be awesome!

The Startum is awesome.
Pros…
. It’s so new; 2-3 years old.
. so close to the mall; 3-5 min walk.
. close to campus; by car.

cons…

can’t think of any.

I would stay away from the Villas unless you like 24/7 party atmosphere. They are relatively cheap though. Maybe look into a house if you want a puppy.

I’ve heard from several people that the biggest party apartments are the ones in the confined area North of 10th Street, West of Indiana Ave., East of Walnut, and South of 46. So if you’re not a partier, avoid anything in that area.

Smallwood, the Rubicon, the Omegas, 10th and College, and Morton 400 are all really nice and close to campus but can get party-heavy on the weekends.

thanks everyone! i’m definitely going to start looking these up. i don’t think i want to live in the villas haha. they can be fun for weekends but never would i want to spend all my time there. and i want to be decently close to campus. the hunt begins

I forget what they’re called, but the brand new on-campus apartments on 10th Street between Ashton and Eigenmann look really nice, albeit expensive. Of course the RPS rules will still apply, but they’re my first choice at the moment. If you can find 2 other people to board with and split the cost even, living there looks like a sick deal.

I don’t know if I’m right, but I’d think most of the people who’re really dedicated to partying would move off campus so there’re no rules avoiding them from doing it, so anywhere on campus is probably pretty laid back. But because of that, keep in mind that anywhere downtown or particularily north and west of campus will be off the hook.

You should look at Smallwood too. I’ve only been in the lobby (they got busted as soon as we got there), but from what I saw it looked good.

While all the places mentioned above are pretty nice places, you will be extremely limited if you want to bring a puppy. Not a lot of apartments allow pets, and if they do, be prepared to pay up to $200 extra per month in fees. A nice place close to campus that allows dogs is Park Doral, near the bypass
