Only some SAMS acceptances get to do APEA, mostly SAMS is its own program, you better check how it's going to work for you.

My son just found out that he is on Waiting list for SAMS/APEA. Does anyone know of the likelihood of being accepted off the Waiting List? CMU is his 1st choice, but he will have to look at other programs, possibly.

PLANTREE did they not have any space?

"We received a very large number of applications so the selection process was extremely difficult. There are many more qualified students than places in the program, therefore a small number of students have been placed on the Waiting List"

Tamir, I would think that SAMS is much more selective than APEA because it is free.

No worries, I called the admisssions office today and they said my application was reviewed and I was admitted! They said that they I'll probably be recieving the acceptance letter sometime next week.

I was also admitted today:)

Any other Waiting List SAMS applicants out there? Anyone with knowlege of last year's Wait List acceptances?

Scroll 2237,
I as well was placed in the APEA program despite the fact that I applied to the SAMS program. During a pre-college program online chat I attended awhile back, I asked them about the possibility of this happenning, and about the costs. They said that some people are overqualified for SAMS and are automatically placed into the APEA program. When this happens, they said, you will not have to pay for the APEA program. Yeah, I'm kind of surprised at how vague the acceptance letter is about costs... it's the most spartan acceptance letter I've ever seen. I was certain I was rejected when I saw the small envelope it came in.

I was accepted to APEA through SAMS... I didn't even apply to APEA, so I haven't chosen courses yet. Will the material to sign up come with the handbook after I send the deposit?

For those of you who are wondering...
PSAT:218
SAT:2300 (but these were sent after the April admin)
GPA: 4.29W 4.0UW
Diversity: I'm white. For the whole diversity thing I wrote about living in the middle of nowhere and how I will be able to represent a different style of life to what I'm assuming is going to be a very urban group of peers.

does apea help raise chances into getting into CMU?

Was it really necessary to post the same question in not one but two resurrected threads?

Have some patience-- we’ll answer you -but don’t need to hear it twice-- 2005 thread- Really!!!
Thanks

haha im sorry, its just so much pressure with junior year, so much tension, its crazy haha
