<p>I submitted my online app about an hour ago, and am getting the counselor sheet done tomorrow, as well as requesting my transcripts be sent (which takes the school 5 business days). Any ideas as to when I'll get a decision? I know that a lot of people get into IU really early in their senior year.... Thanks.</p>
<p>Usually it takes 4 to 5 weeks to get a decision, alhough if you apply early that time can sometimes be reduced if you are a clearcut “yes” or “no”. In this case, it might be as short as three weeks before you get your reply.</p>

<p>I’m really angry because of what happened when I took the counselor form to my school today. She filled out the form and took all my materials that need to be sent to IU as well as my transcripts, but THEN said that to make it easier for them, the counseling department, they store completed applications and transcrips in a holding tank until 2 weeks before the final deadline, and then mail all the completed forms for each college at the same time. So it looks like it’s gonna be many months before IU receives my application. Is this going to hurt my chances of acceptance?</p>
<p>That’s totally unfair to students who get their applications done early. I would politely complain to the administration. It may not hurt your chances of getting accepted but it hurts your priority for housing; also scholarship money could run out.</p>
<p>You gpa is very borderline for IU, so they are seriously hurting your chances by not mailing your application ASAP, as the lower your gpa and class standing, the sooner you should submit a complete application. You should do everything you can to get them to send the counselor’s form and transcript now. They are being very unprofessional and you need to tell someone about it that can make them to do their jobs. Especially as an out-of-state applicant, you have very little chance of getting into IU if the admission’s office has to wait even a month or two more to make their decision.</p>
<p>I’m generally of the opinion that the student should be in charge of their application process. However, under these circumstances, I think it is time to get your parents involved. They need to make a call to your guidance counselor explaining the importance of getting your app in right away. (BTW, I find it ludicrous that any high school counselor would support a system that totally negates the advantages of rolling admission.) Make sure your parents understand the ramifications, ie. how the delay can hurt your chances for admission as well as the possibility of receiving any scholarship money.</p>
<p>If the guidance counselor won’t budge, have your parents call the principal.</p>
<p>Frankly, by getting your app in so early, the counselor should have plenty of time to send the materials in. You should be commended for getting a head start on the process, not penalized. Again, what a screwy policy! </p>

<p>If you have borderline stats for IU , you need to complain ASAP and I agree with IllnoisMom, get your parents involved,the sooner the better.</p>

<p>Hopefully your school has already taken care of the problem. If they haven’t, however, why don’t you ask them to give you all of your application materials now so you can mail it in yourself? When I applied to a school on the day of their early deadline I had my counselor fill everything out, but then I had my dad pick it up and mail it in to make sure it was submitted on time. As long as they sign everything and put it in one of the school’s envelopes, it shouldn’t make much of a difference who sends it.</p>
<p>We’re good now. I went in today and requested that it be sent now, and she said that I’d have to request an express transcript which was fifteen bucks (which I gladly paid) and wait 5 days for my materials to get sent.</p>

<p>Good luck to you! My son got his letter within a couple of weeks after his transcript got to IU. Please take into account that once it arrives at IU, it takes several days to find the admission office.</p>
<p>Do they put your admission decision online or do you have to wait to get a letter?</p>
<p>They put the decision online (or at least they did it two years ago) immediately, and send you a letter in the mail a couple weeks later.</p>

) in 3 weeks. I got an email first, and it said that the acceptance letter/packet would arrive in 2 weeks. Good luck!</p>

<p>Stupid status hasn’t changed yet. I have the feeling it’s gonna be a while. =[ It doesn’t help that I’m an incredibly borderline applicant.</p>

<p>It probably won’t be long… my status never switched from “You have successfully submitted your applcation, now send in the counselor form” to “We have received blah blah.” It just straight from the first one to the decision. I had the first one for like 2 and a half weeks. (I was checking my status ~10 times a day)</p>
<p>You’ll probably get your decision this coming week or the beginning of the one after. By october 1st for sure. All my friends are getting it really fast too.</p>
