When did you have all of your stuff in? I’m still waiting to hear…

I submitted the online application on August 31st, and my school sent my transcript/essay/counselor sheet/etc. around september 13th. So it took like a week.

Way to go I’mOnaBoat! So glad it worked out for you.

Interesting…I submitted the app on Aug. 3rd and the transcripts on Sep. 10th. No word yet…

^ Really? Wow. I bet you’ll hear sometime this week. Good luck man!!

Thanks! I’m definitely expecting to get in…above average stats and double legacy with my brother there now haha. I love Bloomington and IU!

Congratulations, starsfromhere and I’mOnABoat!
To I’mOnABoat…you may want to go back to the school office that was threatening to delay and tell them about your happy ending. You may help teach them how important it can be to get that application completed early in the cycle.

Got my acceptance today! Obviously, very happy.

Congratulations ucbearcats!!

driving us crazy…felt it was best to submit paper app so everything arrived as one package for program son is trying for, but now no way to check status…know that everything should have arrived on time and complete but no acknowledgement of receipt, no email, what if its just sitting on a desk somewhere?

^ I think theyre going to email you a password and username so that you can log into the system and see your status

I got the “admission package” today. It revealed that OOS COA got raised from 28k-32k to 33k-35k. I really hope I can still go.

^ My parents were really mad when they saw that. I’m still going… (already deposited enrollment fee), but they were less optimistic about it. I hate how they ruined a perfectly good acceptance letter with that. It’s essentially saying “Hey, you’re in! And we even raised our tuition just for you!” They could’ve waited a while to send that.

LoonLake–don’t you think that would be irresponsible and worse for IU to keep well known COA increases a secret from new admits?

Do you need financial aid to attend? If so, please have a back up school. I’ve been around CC for a couple of years and have seen too many students unable to attend their top choice schools because of financial need. As with most public universities and colleges, IU doesn’t guarantee to meet full financial need.

^ We can afford IU easilly. It’s not a concern.

In addition, I qualified for the IU Distinction Scholarship… which I thought was automatic… and got nothing about in my admit package. Does stuff about that come later or what?

Well, my son’s scholarship was listed when he was accepted, but I don’t know about how they do it now.

I would contact the admissions office to inquire about the scholarship and your status as far as that goes.

LIke calcruzer, I think information about D’s scholarship was in her acceptance package. Please keep in mind she was receiving about 1/2 dozen acceptances from rolling admit schools near the same time period. I recall all of them mentioned the scholarships in the admissions packet, but could very easily be wrong.

Loonlake–good to know. When you mentioned your parents were less optimistic about you going to IU I thought financial aid might be an issue. It’s a good warning though for all OOS students. Finally rather than the enrollment deposit, I would recommend sending in housing application. The enrollment deposit isn’t due until May. To get your first housing choice it’s better to send it in early.

Gosh. I hate it that I’m getting a bit anxious for my D. She did NOT apply in August like LoonLake (by the way, if you get to Indy, there is a “Loon Lake Lodge” restaurant, a little kitschy, wild game meats eat.). But she’s heard NOTHING. I imagine she got right in the middle of the big mess of tons of applications or something. But still. I thought we’d have heard by now. It’s not a question of admission it’s just that I need to KNOW they have all their materials by Nov 1 as that’s the date by which they say one must apply, in order to be considered for scholarships. My D’s school sends a huge contingent to IU every year, so I’m sure they “stockpile” transcript requests and send them … “en masse”. Maybe that’s what held it up. Anyway…sure would be nice to have that back pocket admission. Congrats LoonLake…I’m holding YOUR post up to my D. Because IU is in our backyard, many don’t really consider it as special, they want to go OOS, as did you. But, looking at your stats, and seeing your excitement helps me show my D that IU is really a good school. I recently found long lost relatives in ND. Hope you enjoy our “Hoosier Hospitality”.

r12 when did your d submit and did she submit paper or online?
son sent his paper and it arrived sept 16 WITH transcript, LOR, test scores all attached. can not find out if it has actually been looked at, have emailed and called and reply is that IF it is there it will take a while to be loaded into computers. we are anxious also as he was trying for a program with a deadline of sept 21. i do know the check hasnt been cashed yet.

parent56: I’m not sure of the exact date she submitted. And she did it online . It’s a separate paperwork step to request a transcript at her school then, of course, so I’m GUESSING she completed her online app around 9/5. But I truly don’t remember. Then requested transcript the next week. So it probably went out about the same time as yours…I’m guessing. BUT…the good news is…I just checked and she got her “Congrats” e-mail today! Yeah! I feel much better. So surely your response will be quite soon. It’s So hard to wait, isn’t it? When you JUST want to know that you met their requirements. Because, if they have it…no worries. But, if they don’t…for some reason - then it’s too late and they don’t want to hear excuses. BUT…you said “they received it 9/16”. So…does that mean you got confirmation that it was received? Certified mail or something? Then that should be proof enough. I still understand your being anxious. Sep. 21 deadline, eh…is he going for a Wells Scholarship? My niece was a Wells Scholar. It was a great program and she felt very honored. She graduated with either a full ride at Michigan for Law School, OR…she was also admitted to Columbia. Not bad from IU to Ivy (she did end up going to Columbia). Good luck. Shouldn’t be long now.

r12 thanks and congrats to your daughter!!!
son did paper app for the wells nomination from oos chance through office of admissions (only a few can get nominated and very slim chance but…) sent all documents, lor, transcripts etc by fed ex and it tracks as received on sept 16th BUT nothing from IU, no email, no one start account no letter…
according to the admissions office they dont know if app is there or not, as it isnt in computer and wont be for a “few more weeks” . i keep hoping for son’s sake that the application was reviewed for wells even if not in computer, but we cant know if it was or not, deadline to submit additional requirements for program if nominated is end of october, so i guess if we dont hear within a few days its too late anyway as if not in computer they wont email, and if sent regular mail, it may not arrive in time for him to send final things back. surely they have this situation alot and handle it well, so i can only hope that if they say deadline is 21st and it arrived in time, then it is being reviewed?!
frustrating though.
