<p>Wow, who knew the topic of AppState could generate such a heated exchange? I would agree ASU is not a top 20 school, but it's certainly not as lowly as described here. USNWR ranks ASU #9 among Masters universities in the south. The 6-year grad rate of 62% isn't much lower than that of NC State (69%). USNWR also listed it among the Up and Coming schools, FWIW. ASU's rural setting might not appeal to some, but that offers advantages as well...given the recent violence at the Chapel Hill campus, some may prefer the perceived safety of a small town setting. Of course, that doesn't address the diversity issue, but hey, as others have posted, why not visit the campus and decide if it's a good fit for you? If you plan to pursue a Masters degree, the reputation of your graduate school will eclipse that of your undergrad school anyway. Good luck...</p>

In the 2015 U.S News rankings, App State was ranked #9 in the “Best Regional Universities” category in the South region, which included all public and private regional universities in a 12 state area. U.S. News ranks it as the #3 “Public Regional University” in the same 12 state area.

2013 graduation rate was 68%; average freshman retention rate 88%; 58% of freshmen were in the top 25% of their high school class.
