If you don't mind saying (this site is pretty anonymous anyway), what is your "new compelling information" and when did you send in your appeal?

i am sending my appeal and my new info is that i had to work long hours and my cousin and best friend died from driveby shootings. my mom overdoesed in oxycotin but is ok now. I will send my appeal on the 12th most likely.

When will UCSB release their appeal decisions?

Also: is there a word limit on the appeal?

@UCadmitted Beginning of May on a rolling basis
There’s no specific word limit but one page is good recommended

@firstgenblackman damn man that is some serious stuff… hope you get in.

Also, same what @theunderdogasian said. Beginning of may on a rolling basis.

Appeal letters are usually 1 page, but max 2 pages. (mine’s 2 pages)

I’m not sure if it counts.

My ACT bumped up 2 points so there’s something. I also go more involved on a big class project and joined speech and debate for ■■■■■ and giggles. Ended up placing at Stanford for my first tournament (it’s national). Other smaller things I couldn’t put in my application as well - such as some family issues, community service awards, and other ECs.

I got into UCLA, but UCSB is my first choice school.
Can’t beat that atmosphere.

@Ookapi I’d leave out the ‘■■■■■ and giggles’ but it sounds like a decent shot if you feel strongly about wanting to apply. Ignore my other question about do you have new info, since this answers it.

Good luck to all of you!

@oldschoolboy hope u get in too. If we do get in well meet up and turn up in ucsb
Btw are the letter of recs supposed to be written and put in the same envelope?

My new compelling information was that I have ADD, moderate/severe bilateral hearing loss, and significant nearsightedness that all went undiagnosed until late sophomore year, and once they got diagnosed and treated (for the most part), my GPA skyrocketed (2 point increase) and I went from all easy CP classes to taking many APs. Also I wrote about my schizophrenic brother and how his condition severely affected me and my siblings.

I didn’t include like any of this in my application because I didn’t want to sound like a sob story but now is my last shot. 3.73 GPA and 1970 SAT.

@firstgenblackman type the rec letters and put it in same envelope
