I was rejected from University of Washington Seattle. I was wondering if I should appeal my rejection or just go to a nearby community college and transfer later. Are there any future penalties for appealing now and getting rejected? And if it fails, will that affect my transfer decision later? Thank you.

What would the basis of your appeal be?

Most appeals are not successful. Of the minority that do succeed, most of them happen when the college or university made its original decision on faulty or incomplete information. In other words, “Wait, somehow ACT never sent you my scores. They were much better than my SAT scores” might work. On the other hand, “But I really, really want to go to University of Washington. I’d do just about anything” will not.
