<p>so I got rejected. 3.38 Global Studies. Tap. ECs. Decent essay.</p>
<p>how do i appeal? i've never been through this. anyone help?</p>

<p>well i spoke with my CC counselor...he said he was shocked at my rejection too..</p>
<p>he said last two years the avg gpa was around..3.4 - 3.5...
and I called UCLA and they say you need minimum 3.7 for Global Studies
which seem a bit ridiculous...
and I was also Tapped...seems like im not gettin "priority consideration" here</p>
<p>but other than that..i really dont know what else to add to my appeal</p>

<p>You could try calling them up and asking why you got rejected. Hotelmoscow did that and found out that there were a couple errors in his app that negatively affected him. If something like that happened to you, that's a good reason to appeal. </p>

<p>yea i had all my prereqs done..
i called them too and spoke with the "top coordinator"
but i don't know how to ask them to review my apps again
they seem pretty confident that there could be no mistakes made</p>

i'll probably just go to UCSD...and Berk is still pending but..i doubt ill get in
UCSD isn't realli the atmosphere i want tho :(</p>

<p>they asked me that too. the problem is i didnt pick an alt major..cuz i only want to go into Globa Studies and i was confident that I would get in.
they say they would only review the app again for an alt major for TAP students too...but it's probably too late for them to review mine again...however maybe i could put this in my appeal</p>

<p>Yes, offer an alternate major. Can your tap counselor do anything for you? I had no idea Global Studies was so competitive. It's new or newish so they probably had no idea how many applicants they'd get.</p>

<p>yea there are.. they ask you to take a total of 5 classes out of three sections (arts, econ, etc). and also fulfill the language requirement (not with high school classes)</p>

<p>Go through assist and see if there are alternate majors you qualify for. You have have fulfilled prereqs for another major without even knowing it.</p>

<p>Global Studies was the 4th most competitive major this year. I was told this by the president of the UCLA honors program who said the demand for this major was increased dramatically this year. I would say it becomes the number 2/3 major in the next few years. Bus. Econ is number 1 of course. </p>
<p>I got into global studies with a 3.6 (TAP) however I have gotten a 4.0 in my last 38 units and def. wrote a killer essay. I know my essay was good because I got into berkeley and I did not do any of the pre-reqs. (Tap is only for UCLA it is basically considered EC for berkeley).</p>
