I know at some schools they will accept a letter of appeal and possibly change their decision if you submit a letter, more reqs and more information. I got rejected from Notre Dame in December...do I even have a chance at appealing their decision?

If you were able to significantly improve your grades, do a decent amount of extracurriculars, and figure out why ND rejected you, then I would give an appeal a shot. Call up admissions and ask to speak with your rep. Maybe he or she can give insight into why you were rejected.

I considered this way back when (I ended up transferring in the next year). I would warn against it. If you had been close, they would have deferred your application to RD. Also, I haven’t heard of anyone successfully appealing a decision and I have been on these boards since 2002. My recommendation would be to start preparing to transfer to Notre Dame. Why appeal when the chance of success is low and you may burn bridges!

If you want, post your scores and we will tell you if we think your appeal has a shot. I know how hard rejection is when you really want to attend Notre Dame. However, I think your best bet is to transfer. Good luck!

they told my guidance counselor that my act scores were too low and thats why i didnt get in

i have a 30

Unfortunately I do not think you have any options. Board scores are very difficult to appeal even when backed with superb academics and extracurriculars. I like 68178’s advice. If you want to transfer plan now and the road will be much easier ahead.
