I've had friends that have emailed the Dean of Financial Aid at different schools to try and get more financial aid, and many have been sucessful. Has anyone done this at NYU, and if so what were the results.

thanks.

it was rumored that the maxmum amount awarded after a solid appeal was $2,000.00 just what i heard, no idea if theres any truth to it, hopefully this will pique the interests of those who did appeal their finaid package

Even $2000 would help me a lot :(

its most likely too late. you have no leverage, youve already accepted the offer of admission. why would they give you more money now? to convince you to come? oh, too late, you already are.

I have to agree with scrapnel here. If you needed more money, it would've been better to ask earlier. At this stage in the game, I imagine most of the funds are gone. That being said, it doesn't hurt to ask - worst comes to worst, they'll tell you no and you'll be no worse off than before. If you need the money now because of a change in financial situation, you should definitely mention that when you talk to the Financial Aid people.

Guys there IS a financial aid appeal form. And no, you don't just email the guy. https://www.nyu.edu/financial.aid/appeal-form-ru.html

You can send me a commission on whatever aid you receive.

I believe that's for after you've finished your freshmen year. I went to the financial aid workshop during orientation and one of the women explained that after the first year, when you reapply for financial aid, that if you think you might deserve more funding you can apply to be reviewed for more.

Yeah, I'm not a Freshman. And I was assuming at least some of these guys weren't either. Whatever, more left for me I guess.
