After unfortunately being denied for Fall of 2013, I'm considering appealing to UC Berkeley. On the grounds of new information I have little, although I think my denial may be in part due to the fact that I accidently submitted my SAT to them (a 2090) along with my ACT (A 34). Would I be able to use a focus on the ACT as new information? On other grounds I also have my first semester grades from senior year (a 4.8 weighted). So is it worth appealing on the basis of my ACT score, 7th semester grades and the fact that I've improved throughout high school or is it not worth it?

Some other stats are:
A 4.45 weighted GPA
Two years of internship
Cross-country runner throughout high school
Numerous jobs and volunteering work

I am a Cal Undergraduate 2016 and when I applied back then, my gpa was 4.63. I had lower SAT score but two very well written “diversified” essay. Berkeley is a very diversified university among other UCs. You should have done your research when submit to them. In general, I applied 4 UC’s and got in all of them. My suggestion is if you have better choice like a private college, go there because after gotten in to UCB, I learn that “one either learn to swim and survive or die from drowning.” Don’t expect people to save your or give you a hand! It’s a monstrous society.

^I don’t know how that’s supposed to be helpful to OP.

I knew someone in high school who was denied to almost every UC school and then appealed to UC san diego and got in (appeal was immediately after rejection, so she didn’t even add anything). That is a huge jump from being denied from even UC santa cruz to being admitted to san diego.

So yes, you should appeal. Though, I don’t know much about the appeal system, isn’t it very late for you to appeal a rejection from last year?
