Appeals help as a result of Year Abroad

I took a year abroad during high school and received credits (not grades) during this time. I had a 3.6 or so GPA before going and now I had a 4.1 this past semester. I have rejected by many schools (UC and CSU because they don’t look at senior grades). I wanted to know if it even seemed worth it to appeal these decisions.

Thanks

UC’s and CSU’s do not look at Senior grades for admission decisions and most will not consider Senior grades in your appeal since all admissions are provisional. This means all schools expect you to do well Senior year to maintain your acceptance. You need something more compelling than just good Senior grades to tip the scales.

It doesn’t sound like you have any basis for an appeal. The colleges had the correct facts of your history, and you were judged to about the same point in time everyone else was. You could reapply next year and your senior grades would be taken under consideration, but if I were you, I’d move on. Don’t take it personally. There are more great applicants than there are available spots at those universities.
