Applicant Peak?

College Board says "experts predict applications will continue to rise faster than openings at most colleges, through about 2010."

Does this mean that this year is the worst for applicants?

Will the admissions rate go up by a few percent by the class of 2015 and 2016 (my year)?

Here is the link <a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/parents/csearch/know-the-options/21348.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/parents/csearch/know-the-options/21348.html</a></p>

Overall, colleges aren’t at capacity in the USA. It’s just that the higher ranked schools have continued to see steady increases because students decide routinely to apply to 10-15 schools when in the past they applied to 3-5. The actual number of students is peaking but it’s not as if there isn’t space for them somewhere. The problem is more and more students feel they MUST be at the tippy top best school or else they’ve failed life.

Of course applications will outpace openings – but since each student can actually attend one college, the increase in # apps is irrelevant.
