For the people re-applying next year! :D and for the youngins' and people just coming to the idea of boarding school. I know its awfully early, but isn't it better to be prepared? For the re-applicants, what would you have done differently? and what are you going to do differently? and for everybody, why do/did you want to apply? What schools are you applying to?

Methinks I like this n00bs idea… welcome to the club bucko! Of course you do have to pass the test to be truly accepted…

What test Rad? I’ve already passed most of the tests on CC haha.

oh and I’m a girl :P

I’m applying for 2011… that means i would be going to a boarding school in 10th grade. Is it hard to get into a boarding school in 10thgrade and is it hard to adjust. Like coming into a new school senior year? Any schools that you would recomend?
Thanks!!!
xoxoxo

I have one question that will be bothering me this year, is it easier to get accepted for grade 10 (as a repeat) or grade 11?

I think I am applying as a 10th grade repeat.

Think of it this way, there are usually around 50 spots for 10th graders and 1 or 2 for juniors. I think less people apply as juniors but I believe getting in as a 10th grader is easier. And then you could adjust to bs before junior year.

@ queenie: same situation here… i think that as long as you’re social and outgoing and join clubs/sports you’ll do fine. i’m just hoping they won’t be TOO close-knit… :X

^ apparently you have to be kind of amazing at life to get into as a junior… they also take more sophs and i think it’d be a LOT easier adjusting academically as a sophomore.

HAHA i’ve posted on the threads for the apps of '09, '10, and '11… gosh im pathetic

I think the earlier u apply, the better u are. I didn’t know it’s so difficult to get in 11th grade until I got my waitlist decisions For example, at Middlesex, there are 2 spots for 11th grade and over 70 ppl applied :-o
Moreover (this is just my speculation), your friend circle usually forms since you first get in 9th or 10th grade. I’d imagine it’s more awkward to be a newcomer at 11th or 12th grade.

here’s the data for the waitlist of 11TH GRADE ONLY.
Groton: accepted: 1-2
Middlesex: applied: 70; accepted: 2; waitlisted: a bunch
(they accepted so few because they really have 1-2 openings only, for 11th grade)
Cate: not sure how many accepted, over 20 girls waitlisted (~same number for guys)
Hotchkiss: over 20 girls waitlisted (~same number for guys)
