2011 Applicants

Hey everyone! I've been checking all the schools websites, mainly HADES, and pretty soon the 2011 applicant process is going to start! I'm sooooo excited. I went to Catholic school, and now I go to public school. My school district is good and all, except when they say they help special education students, they mean they help challenged students, not students who need challenged/gifted students like me. So, I decided I'm going to try to get into a good boarding school in sixth grade. Also, our high school might be under construction for the next 10 years! YAY. My dad and cousin went to The Kiski School so I'm used to being around boarding schools.
Anyway, I'm going to apply to Hotchkiss, Andover, and Exeter, possibly Choate. I take German now and love the language. Going to Waldsee this summer. Anyway, I must have that in a school so I have limited possibilities. Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Ich liebe Deutsch sprechen.
So, post about your worries, fears, aspirations, dreams, etcetera. Maybe I'll get to know some of you guys, maybe not.
Sorry, this is random, but when I'm tired and must keep on going, I think of these quotes
“The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.”
Paul Valery

“The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.”
Bruce Feirstein

"It would be better if you begin to teach others only after you yourself have learned something."
Albert Einstein
Good Luck, and let the search begin!

we already have one of these.

but:

how old are you? If you’re applying for sixth look into some pre-preps like Bement, Fay or Eagle Brook. All the schools you named are high schools.

When my son last year applied to BS’s, he placed at the top of his list those schools that offered German. Of the schools you listed, only Hotchkiss, PA and PEA teach the language; Choate doesn’t. Like you, he loves German. (Note: He now attends Hotchkiss and loves German even more…because that school has helped him tremendously in becoming fluent.)

Take a look at Kent. It offers German as well.

St. Mark’s School, St. Paul’s School, Concord Academy, and The Governor’s Academy also offer German. You can search for more schools at [The Association of Boarding Schools - TABS](http://www.boardingschools.com).

Son just graduated from St. Paul’s. He finished 4th year German. German program has an exchange with a Leipzig school where they alternate between 2 weeks in Germany and German students spending 2 weeks at SPS. (The German teacher’s brother-in-law is YoYo Ma, sort of neat).
Enjoy your German

Are you in 5th grade now? Seriously?

It scares me a bit…a boy born in the year of 1999.

^o.o I feel old.

I’m a girl by the way, and no, I’m going into eight grade next year. I’ve just been searching for a school since sixth grade because my aunt is extremely enthusiastic in this idea and is constantly wanting me to search. I know Choate doesn’t offer German, which is a major disappointment because I love the language.

If you’ll be an 8th grader in fall 2011, the only top school you can consider is Groton.

^gonnastop:…no they wouldn’t. its summer in the US so that’s basically saying 'i’m in eighth."

Yeah I get it.

I’m not from South Africa so it’s summer here too. ^^

Good luck then!
