@NewCanadian This may sound like a dumb question, but how do you know if your application is considered complete?
@NewCanadian Also, thank you for being so patient and helping me answer everything
@lostinlife2021 In my U of T applicant portal, the status says ‘Application under review by Admissions Committee’. That’s how I know my application is complete. Before that, there were various status notices like ‘On Hold’, ‘Missing Documents’, etc. I found somewhere that they will not review your application unless it is complete. So if your status says ‘Under Review’, your application is complete.
@puckpusher I never had any status updates with notices like “On Hold” or “Missing Documents.” My status just says “Application Received” and in the checklist, it says “Not yet reviewed.” Does this mean that my application is complete just not reviewed it?
I second what @puckpusher said regarding knowing when your file is complete.
Is anyone else here an international student? Where is everyone from, please let us know if you are a Canadian or international applicant.
@NewCanadian I’m International - from the USA
Canadian from Alberta!
@puckpusher great to know. I’m also an international student from the U.S.
Hello! I’m a Canadian student from the Prairies, and I’m here to update that I’ve just received my acceptation letter yesterday from UoT St. George Faculty of Arts and Science. I applied to Cognitive Science there so maybe it’s a less popular course? I know that Computer Science is already full at UoT.
Wow thanks for that update @CynthiaChen and congrats on your acceptance!!
thanks!
It’s incredible that some of us are still waiting; especially those of us who had applied from last year. However, I have a theory in my head as to what’s going on:
If your application is still under review for more than 8 weeks (from the date all documents were submitted), it’s possible U of T intends to admit you eventually, but cannot extend the offer just yet due to the competitiveness of the applicant pool this year. So what I think they’re doing is waiting until after May 1st (which is the deadline given to most international students to accept their offers) to see how many spots open up then they will extend the offer to you at that time.
I’m just speculating as I can’t derive at a more rational explanation. However, I would predict that those of us still waiting will most likely get our decisions by the first week in May.
Hey guys! I also forgot to update, but I got accepted to UTSG for life sciences about a week ago! Good luck to the rest of you; I’m sure you’ll all receive admissions soon!
I received my acceptance to UTSG Engineering yesterday. whew! Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.
@lostinlife2021 and @puckpusher Congrats guys!!! That’s awesome news!
I wish I could join in the celebration, but I saw today that I got denied for my first choice UTSG - Faculty of Arts and Science. I’m not too surprised though as my grades are a bit on the margins and I had applied as a mature student. However, my applications to UTM and UTSC remain under review so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I get some good news. However, I got offers from Ryerson and York so I do have a fall back if U of T doesn’t materialize for me this round.
I wish everyone the very best on their academic endeavors.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hey guys I got accepted into U of T Scarborough. I got the good news yesterday!!!
My application to UTM is still under review. I would prefer to attend the Mississauga campus because it’s more convenient for me location wise and it has more academic programs that I am interested in. I hope I hear from them soon.
However, I am a bit torn with the choice that I have to make as now that I am accepted I realize that U of T is quite expensive for an international student. I have grown to like Ryerson since I accepted their offer back in March. Their tuition seems fairly reasonable and they have incourse scholarships for international students. I am still deciding whether I should give up their offer and go for U of T’s offer. I would be in a lot of debt when I finish my program of study at U of T.
@NewCanadian I would go to Ryerson over UTSC, especially since UTSC will cost more money. UTSC is not worth taking on debt. UTSC is out in the boonies (close to where I grew up) and there’s not much to do there. It’s mostly a commuter campus. Ryerson, on the other hand is right in the middle of downtown and is a very vibrant campus.
You know, I’m still waiting for mine. I already decided I would attend another uni but it’s definitely weird some still have to wait. I applied at the very last moment when OUAC’s system was failing but…
@bouders thanks for your feedback! I decided to stick with Ryerson and I couldn’t be happier with the choice. You can’t beat the location… it’s literally in the heart of downtown Toronto. I think this school is the right fit for me at this point. I will give it my best shot and try to maintain a high GPA. I plan to apply to U of T’s Rotman School of Management down the line once I finish my undergraduate studies at Ryerson.
@NewCanadian You’re welcome! Have a great time at Ryerson!
