So I applied ED through the common app online 3 weeks ago for a November 15th deadline.
I checked my account today, and none of the paperwork my guidance counselor sent it has been received. I know it was mailed at least 3 days before my deadline, so it was postmarked before, and from where I live that is more than enough time to get to my college. Will this affect my ED status? Has anybody else been in a similar situation? I am in need of help, I'm panicked!

It shouldn’t affect your ED status if, indeed, it was sent. This is specifically why I never send anything snail mail unless I track it with registration or certification. And even then, the postal service screws up more than it makes right.

If you’re nervous about it, call the college, explain your situation, and ask if it should be re-sent. If they say “no”, take no action.

If they say “yes”, with your GC’s assistance (and maybe your pocketbook), put together the package that GC sent, and either *FedEx or UPS overnight *to the college.

Never, ever rely on snail mail if it absolutely positively has to be there by a certain date.

If it was mailed Nov 12 (“3 days before the deadline”), it may not arrive until today Nov 16. Then, even if it has arrived, it has to be matched to your file at the college and that can take several days or even longer. For ED deadlines, the transcript can arrive and be accounted for after the deadline as long as it was sent by the deadline.

Don’t panic. Colleges want to consider candidates not sweep them aside because of bureaucracy. They aren’t going to hold you accountable for your guidance department or even mailing dates. That said, follow up with the college and you’ll feel better hearing it from the ‘horse’s mouth.’
