So I had to apply separately for the college of music at the 4 schools I’m applying at. On one application I had to list the pieces I’d sing for my audition. I googled the correct composer, wrote that on the application and sent it off. Weeks later I finally made my screening recording. At the beginning I stated the name of the piece along with the composer. I used the name that was written on my score, but a few days later after submitting it I figured out that the composer on the score was different from the name I submitted on the application. The one on the score was a composer widely missatributed to have written that piece. So on my application I wrote down the correct composer, and in my screening video I have an incorrect one. I don’t know what to do, I don’t know if I should email then since I had already emailed them before asking to change my audition date. Also I wouldn’t know what to say in the email, since they can’t change my recording. I submitted this recording to all 4 schools I’m applying to, but only one made me write the name of the composer in the application (the one I actually want to go to), so I’m really only worried about that. I’m like panicking right now, does anyone have any advice?
This isn’t worth panicking about. Just drop a quite email with the correction. It’s not a big deal, even if you already emailed them once to change an audition date. If they rejected everyone who made a mistake in their applications, they would have no applicants at all. They want you to apply. The want to see what you’ve accomplished musically. Now relax.
It’s absolutely fine. I wouldn’t bother emailing them. If you said the name that’s on the score, you haven’t really made a mistake, even if it’s misattributed.
