<p>According to my TAMU application at ApplyTexas.com it reads "If you are submitting your essay online, it must be no longer than 120 eighty-character lines of text (including spaces and blank lines)."</p>
<p>Does this mean 120 lines of text of about 80 characters each? Also, does font, font size, and spacing (double spaced or single spaced) matter? Im typing mine single spaced in Times New Roman 12 point font. If I do it double spaced, would each space between lines count towards the line limit as a "blank line"?</p>
<p>But if you are submitting it by mail it reads "If you are mailing in a paper copy of your essay(s), please put your full name, date of birth and the ApplyTexas application ID at the top of each page. Unless otherwise specified, your essay should be typed and no longer than one page (8 1/2" x 11")."</p>
<p>What bothers me about the mailed version is that a "full page" is much less than 120 lines.
Its about 40 wen i checked!
Does spacing matter here too?</p>
<p>I submitted mine online, it is preferred. I didn't double space, except for between paragraphs. Also, I just did a tab for the indent.</p>
<p>Obviously, the formatting isn't a big deal since you submit the entire essay in a text field. Length isn't a huge factor either except for the fact that you can't submit beyond 120 lines.</p>
<p>Focus on content, in other words, answer the question thoroughly. Do not have length for the sake of length.</p>

<p>The instructions for these Texas aps confused me a little. Im single spacing mine and indenting in each new paragraph, not skipping a line in between.</p>
<p>I understand what you mean by focusing on content. its just that I am used to the 500 word limit. Right now i am at 24 line at around 360 words. I feel that when i reach around 500 words I would have completed my thought process, but at 500 words it would maybe be HALF of the limit.</p>
<p>No minimum just a maximum. I counted my lines also and had about 60-80 lines for each essay. I considered the possibility that maybe I should write some more just because I can have up to 120 lines. However, I knew that I answered the question thoroughly and precisely. So, I felt confident in my response.</p>
<p>I would even recommend that you not worry about length, except for it being to long and of course being like only a few sentences. Just write until you feel comfortable with your response! They want to know how well you can respond to their question, not how much you can write. </p>
<p>^here is my problem Z4CHH, i already did several essays for my in-sate Florida applications, and they had a 400-500 word limit. When i started on the Texas apps, I saw that optional Essay C was the same as my UF question. so i thought "sweet i already have one done" but then i say the 120 line limit. and then i saw my UF essay.....46 lines!!!!! (it was based off the 400-500 limit).</p>
<p>My problem is that when I write something and finish it, my thoughts on it are complete. but now my mind is used to the 400-500 word range, so i usually end up writing around that much, which ends up translating to less than half the line limit!</p>
