^^^^ no

even though they say a few lines more than one page is okay....

consider this: Why would page 217 be longer than one page? keep it to ONE PAGE especially for this prompt.

You can adjust the font and margin. I made my font 11, and increased the bottom margin by 1/4 of an inch. It worked well for me ;)

would writing the optional essay be an advantage in the admissions process?

no. cuz if you do regular app, not common app, you've basicalyl only got two essays, which i did, so it makes no difference, they'll just read your common app essay which basically have same topics

That's good to hear. I find that of all schools i'm applying to, Penn's app is most demanding. As of now I have no idea how to answer the question, "which professor would you like to study with and why".

i will tell you the truth, thats the only question I did not get creative on! If anyone somehow found a way to be creative, I would love to hear it.
(Btw for those who dont know, i got accepted to penn ED so i wont steal it obv.)

What did you do Vinny? DId you just look up a Penn professor and researched about him/her? That's what I think I'm going to have to do, although it sounds awful.

basically....found a professor ... and said i want to work with this professor because and then named a few reasons ... maybe thats all they want...

write whatever you want. just put a little 217 in the top right corner.

If you do common app, yes, it is advantageous to submit an optional essay. It shows that you're willing to go a little more for Penn. When I talked to my regional director for early admissions he told me to write an optional one. I sent in three (all were great), and I got in.

yeah, i found this prof who's outside job id KILL to have and i wrote a line about her and why the embodies some of my goals in school... i guess thats kinda wat they wanted.

my "fun" essay was a little weird... i told them about that line from that spongebob song "F is for friends who do stuff together..." etc. yea... im not sure wat they thought but hey, i got in! lol
