Does anyone know when application forms for the class of 2012 will be available? I'm currently a high school junior but I'd like to begin on the essay shortly. If there is a particular month that application forms are available, I would appreciate being told this.

DEF after the rd cycle finishes--way to early! but you can write ur common app essay now, i mean the last choice is "other" or something to that extent so you could write about anything

lol wowwww i guess you are the type of person who balances out procrastinators like me.

i'm guessing the app is released in the summer... not sure though since i started looking at it maybe in october.....just check the web site once and while. now you can just brainstorm ideas/experiences to write about.

The Princeton application is released in mid-August. I don't think much changes from year to year except for the essays.
And, of course, you could always start on the common app essays since they don't change from year to year.

Even the essays tend to be similar. And yes, mid-August for the Princeton app. Early August/mid-July for the Princeton supplement (which has the same essays as the Princeton app). Check the threads I've started. I think I asked that question back in July in a thread I started and it got answered on that thread (but maybe not...I'm too lazy to check!).

this year the princeton app with editable fields was supposedly going to be avaliable starting august 8th, however, i checked it one day in early august and it was up already. if youre really anxious to start working on the app, fill out this years app, because the summers and careers essays will probably cross apply to next years app....thats what i did anyways (fill out the '10 app to get the short essays done)

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I've already drafted my essay according to their questions from the past 5 years, but I'll play particular emphasis then to my class of 2011 question.

I didn't realise that application forms would not be available for so long, August is senior year (!), I always thought I would have the summer to perfect my application and forward it to Princeton. This makes it hard to plan 2007 appropriately, other than SAT requirements.

^^pathetic :)--your application is mostly work, not what you send to Princeton. What you send to Princeton is a summary--your application is the 3 and a half years of high school and all the high points (and low points) that go with it. With that said, quit worrying about standardized tests (as long as you get mid 700's on SAT's, and 4's and 5's on AP's, you're fine), and the application you submit (again--very small part), and look at opportunities for research, competitions you can enter, programs you can do, college courses you can take, jobs you can do (after all, Princeton's not cheap ;))...That is your application!

hahaha... seriously though awaiting-college, you can relax a little with the planning and such... if you want. :D once the app comes out you will only have to RECORD your achievements and write a couple essays, which you have already drafted anyway. plus you still have august and senior year, including the breaks (thanksgiving, christmas) to perfect it.

i think i spent like 2 weeks on my app total- i just sat down and wrote the essays, proof read them, filled out the rest of the info, and submitted it. Besides, unless an essay is EXTRAORDINARY it will not define ur acceptance and stuff. Just do ur best and hope that your accomplishments will shine on their own.

Right. And if you have to polish your essay for 6 months and rewrite and update it all the time, you should start from the beginning.

It is highly unlikely that it still fits together well and probably rather comes across as a mosaic of copy & paste. Don't wait until 2 days to deadline either but starting in late august or early september is perfectly fine.

Haha I wish I had this kind of motivation. Of the 3 places I have applied thus far, I have started my essays and applications the DAY they were due.

But so far everything has turned out OK. And I "operate better" under pressure, at least in terms of producing my best work.

Go to the Common App website and you can look at all of it there. They're all very generic though, like evaluating a significant experience, influential person, character in fiction/work of art/whatever, a diversity one, topic of your choice.

Basically you can write about ANYTHING and then mold it to a topic instead of the opposite.

Holy $^%# you kids need to chill out... Junior year is not for college apps, it's for doing really well in your classes, because that is the year that it counts!

awaiting-college, ok seriously, u want advice lol? go party now. I was so anxious to get the application process started, but once it came I went crazy, applications, deadlines, ESSAYS, standarized tests, school work, its crazy, seriously...I barely see my friends anymore and i sort of regret not having as much fun my junior year. You have the summer to do whatver you need to do. As for now, go party...for real. I mean study your butt off for school and do ECs, but have fun.

if you are definitly going to apply to Princeton, I recommend doing the Princeton App before the Common App. This way, if you don't get accepted ED, you can use your Princeton 500-word essay as the "topic of your choice" essay for the Common App.
