I’m an adult student that has applied for the Altoona Branch Campus for Fall of 2018. I went to a tour and spoke with one of the assistant heads of admission and it seemed like everything went well; I’m pretty sure he said there was almost a guarantee of me getting in. I was told I’d get a decision by late October or early November, and I sent in my application as early as Penn State allowed. (I think applications were allowed starting on September 3rd.)
For the last two months, my application still has the generic message about my admission material being verified. Everything I needed to submit already has been checked off, except for the FAFSA, which I submitted early October and still hasn’t been updated. Anyways, I asked admissions about it and they told me it would remain in that status until I get my decision, but I’ve heard other people’s statuses are changing to a statement about their application being under review. Have I likely been rejected, and they’re just giving me the run around?
For what it’s worth, I think one of my three essays was around 30 words over the limit, but the other two were within them. That wouldn’t be an instant disqualifier, would it?
Additional Note: I swear about a month and a half ago MyPSU changed what it said about my application, but when I woke up it was displaying the same message. I was also told by admissions once that I would receive a decision within two weeks; that was nearly a month ago.
