Well, people I was applying for harvard college. I have filled out my common App. Now when I go back to the harvard main site, there is a requirement for :

School Report and high school transcript
Teacher Report (2)
Mid-Year School Report
Final School Report

Now when I click at the 'application forms' link it goes into some 'gather content' site and asks for login, I do not have a n account. Can some one enlighten me about this?

You enter their name and their email address, and they will receive an invitation from commonapp. They must be careful to click on the FIRST link, not the second, because the second one (which looks very similar to the first and is right under it) will make them “opt out” of the online commonapp and that’ll be endless problems for you and them alike!

The above instruction sounds right. By the way, have you talked to your counselor and teachers ? It seems like very weird asking this kind of question just 3 days before RD deadline. Your teachers may not be ready to do it on time in year-end holiday period. Or, at least, you may not get high quality rec letters, especially for prestigious colleges like Harvard. Please quickly call or contact your teachers. My tips to you.

Should the School Report and high school transcript, Teacher Reports, Mid-Year School Report, Final School Report be submitted in Common App itself or should it be submitted directly to harvard?

Also, I have observed in the ‘Decisions’ thread the application is divided into Subjective, Objective and Other. But in common App I see no bifurcation like that. And the things like Major Awards, Extracurriculars, Job/Work Experience, Volunteer/Community service, Summer Activities are not seen. In common App, I can only see the “Honors” and “Activities” nothing else. Can you please let me know what I seem to miss. Further, I am certified in java script and HTML, where should I include this in the application?

Re-read post #4. They SHOULD be submitted through the Common App unless your teachers choose not to. (Some school officials are luddites and are fearful of technology). In that case, everything can be printed and sent in by mail. But, as the deadline is fast approaching, you should really have them do it on-line, as your file will not be read unless Harvard receives your transcript, teacher recommendations, and School Report.

There’s really no place to put that down on the Common App – it’s like being certified in CPR, Microsoft Applications etc. You can certainly list the jobs you have done by being certified on the activity list.

What about the application form, there is no bifurcation. And the things like Major Awards, Extracurriculars, Job/Work Experience, Volunteer/Community service, Summer Activities are not seen. In common App, I can only see the “Honors” and “Activities” nothing else.

It seems like you are having issues navigating within the Common Application. There is only an HONORS section and ACTIVITIES section – there isn’t anything else.

You add your Extracurriculars, Job/Work Experience, Volunteer, Community service, Summer Activities under the ACTIVITIES section. Select from the pull down menu and you can add up to ten activities; if you have more than ten activities, you can list the rest under ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. You do the same with HONORS by adding them under the EDUCATION section. (Go to the bottom of the EDUCATION screen.)

Now about SAT scores, I chose to ‘self report’. So should I not send it from college board, if I should how to? Should I send it to my university or my common app.
Also, I have only taken one SAT I have the last SAT scheduled on 25 th jan, how can I make those scores reach the college?

All colleges MUST receive an “Official Report” from the SAT testing office that includes both SAT I and at least two SAT II Subject Test scores. You cannot self-report those test scores, so when you register for the SAT II Subject tests, you can have your scores automatically sent to colleges, which will also include the SAT I score. (The first 4 colleges on your list are free, the rest you have to pay for).

The only scores you can self-report are AP or IB scores.

But it is asking if I want to self report them in the common app.
So when I send my scores will it be automatically synchronized with my Common App?

The computer system is not that sophisticated; scores are not synchronized, at least not electronically. I’m sure someone in the Admissions office checks to make sure the scores that you self-report match with the “Official Reports” coming from the College Board. If there is a discrepancy between what you self-report and the “Official Report” I’m sure Admissions will contact both parties and ask for an explanation.
