Application questions

I am wondering if it would be OK for me to use the extra space at the end to describe a few different, slightly related things about my life that have challenged me and changed me. Is it ok to have it be like a few separate essays, or should I try to connect them?

My normal essay, as of now, is about ONE specific thing, and is more of a "fun" topic than what I want to get across in this one. I have a concern: that MIT will think I'm just trying to get their sympathy because these are some negative things that have happened to me. In reality I just want to show them who I really am and what has shaped me. (And don't be freaked out... it's not like something god-awful or anything)

Also, I've spent thousands of dollars to fund my favorite activities, and it was all money that I earned. Is this impressive?

I'll probably think of a bunch more questions later that I'll post here. Thanks.

The extra space at the end is not really an essay per se; it's a space at the end where you can write anything you want. If you'd like to structure it as an essay, that's your choice, but you can also choose to write a few separate pieces, as you have described.
