Application Status Updated to deffered status?

Hi, as of yesterday my application status was updated to, "
Your application has undergone an initial review and is with the Admissions Committee for further evaluation. A decision may be delayed as we assess the strength of this year’s applicant pool."

I have been doing some research and it seems a lot of people have been in a similar situation in the past. I read that many call the office of admissions and also with an email.

I was just curious as to what exactly say on the phone with them? I have already written an email stating my academic achievements (I have a little over a semester’s worth of college credits with a perfect college GPA through dual enrollment). I am waiting for my draft email to be reviewed by my high school guidance counselor and then I plan on sending it to admissions. However, on the phone I’m not exactly sure what to say to the office of admissions.

Hi! I was also deferred then accepted, this is what I said on the phone-
“Hi, my application status shows I’ve been deferred and I was hoping you could tell me why?” They will probably tell you it just means they need more time to make a decision and point out what is lacking in your application. They will then most likely offer to transfer you over to one of the guidance counselors/admission officers, if they don’t then just ask :slight_smile: Say the same thing to the guidance counselor and see what feedback they give you. Make sure to let them know you would also be very happy with being placed into summer. Also, make sure when you call that they actually look at your application- you will know they are looking at it when they ask for your full name and date of birth.
