DS got his acceptance letter today! Very pleased. Hope that he gets a merit scholarship - like the rest of you, his ACT qualifies him, but don’t know about his GPA.

Actually, I take it back. She got the scholarship for people with higher than her unweighted GPA but lower than her weighted (She got the one for people with a 3.2, when she has a 3.0 uw, 3.5 weighted), so I don’t know if that means that they gave her credit for the higher SAT or if they weighted it some weird way. There wasn’t a huge difference in the scholarships at that point, though (The next level is only $1,500 more). Also, students only have to maintain a 2.0 (i.e., not flunk out) to keep the scholarship, which is nice because it means they can have a bad semester without having to leave school. We are hearing a lot of good things about this school. We made an appointment to go.

Scholarship package arrived and son received top award. I assume it was based upon his high SATs (>2100) and not as much on his GPA which was in the lower range. Even with the scholarship Eckerd is likely to be his most expensive school and am not 100% sure we can make it work financially.

Hmm, that’s interesting. It seems like their scholarship offers aren’t so cut and dried based upon an exact set of numbers then. I wonder if there is any way to talk them up, considering my daughter got a way higher offer ($20K) from Florida Institute of Technology, which is pretty much an equivalent school, with similar tuition. We are visiting both schools in February, so if my daughter falls in love with Eckerd over FIT, we will ask if they can do any better. She’s also going to apply for the arts scholarship at Eckerd. I don’t know how much that is, though.

The Art Money is $1,000 per year in addition to the merit $. D is a freshman Art student here.

DS got scholarship letter, $10k/year. Wondering if there is chance for them to increase it, as his gpa has gone up due to his good work this fall?

Good luck, pkd. We’re going to visit in February, so I’m hoping to talk to them then if DD likes it a lot. She got a larger scholarship offer ($20K vs. $13.5 from Eckerd) from FIT, and the tuition is similar. But I keep hearing how great Eckerd is.

If anyone is reading this thread and wondering where your acceptance/rejection letter is or where your merit letter is, I suggest you phone the school.

momneeds2no, we got nowhere calling except the info that everything was there. We did get it pretty quickly, but the scholarship stuff came a week later. Since I was pretty sure DD would get in but just wanted to know about the money, the scholarship was what we needed.
