Application Status

for current student, they are our initials, and then a 0 (or 1 or 2 or so on) and then the year we graduated from high school.

Example: John Amos Doe (Class of 2008) would be

jad02008

Jane Alice Dunn

would be jad12008

because dunn is after Doe, hence the 1

Hmmm I was not aware that Pomona sent out passwords and ID...I never got one when I applied ED I? They sent the decisions out by mail. Should I be worried that I haven't gotten one for my RD?

Catsushi---I just got in ED2, and I never received a password of any kind. I just got a physical letter.

i got the email about the login and password as well but also saw that i was missing the extra school counselor form and signature page... i sent them right away.
and congrats catsushi!

^^Congrats for what? I was deferred for ED I, so now I'm waiting for April to come along so I can get my final decision. :) Which is why I'm a little unsure about whether I should receive any passwords/id or what not...oh well! Things will work themselves out eventually.

Well I don't think it matters for you anyway. All it does is take you to an application checklist. If you were deferred ED then you must have all your application materials in, so there is nothing to worry about.

opps sorry, i saw your name right next to "i got in ed 2"... my bad ;)
and i agree with wd90; if you have already been contacted about your admission status (and you weren't rejected), then i think everything should be in.

its a little wierd though, pomona absolutely THE SLOWEST school in regard to getting application materials checked off... all the other schools i have applied to have already found my file complete (for months) and pomona still hasnt gotten my file together... tisk tisk jk :)

My daughter received an e-mail with the ID and password on February 5th. It took us until the 12th to be able to get it to work---and then only after calling the Admissions folks for help. Once we could access the account, it showed her mid-year transcript was missing and the School Report Supplement was missing. She has no mid-year report to send because she was a high school graduate at the time of application. (She graduated a year early and is doing a 'gap year'.)

Her college counsellor immediately re-sent the School Report Supplement along with a cover letter explaining the non-existence of a mid-year transcript . Curiously, everything else in her counsellor's packet (that was all sent at the same time) was marked as received.

On the 22d, my daughter received another e-mail indicating the same materials were still missing . . . and that they needed to be received by Feb. 29th! I keep checking the on-line status, but they remain 'missing'. How many times do we need to re-send this stuff . . . .

I could understand this misplacement of items if we had sent all this stuff in willy-nilly, piece-mealed, or at the last minute. BUT, her application was submitted October 14th and all pieces and parts were on their way to the Admissions department from the college counsellor and ACT folks by October 23d. So, why are we still scrambling at the last minute to provide multiple copies of documents previously sent to the Admissions department?? We had even included her application number on everything sent.

Hopefully, all the items will get to her folder in time to be reviewed in a timely and considered fashion. I'm just really sorry there is even a suggestion that she wasn't organized enough to avoid the last-minute rush. I don't know how much more timely we could have prepared and submitted this application.

Unfortunately, Pomona isn't the only admissions department for which we have had to re-send items sent in September and October. We thought we were being so smart in completing her applications quite early.

Hey treemaven, This is what happened to me also. I had to resend my mid-year transcript and my mid year report after they were marked missing. I did that on Friday. Hope they received it.

Yeaaah, I have to say, Pomona hasn't proven itself to have the most organized admissions office...

Yeah, they just lost my school report supplement :/ I feel bad asking my counselor to do it again, since she's filling out my mid-years right now...

Our experience has been different. Pomona's application tracking site is the only one showing receipt of the mid-year report even though the high school sent them to the all the different colleges the same day. Pomona was also the only one to list the names of the counselor submitting the school report and the name of the teachers who submitted recommendations.

Okay, the School Report Supplement has been faxed---and the THIRD hard copy sent. Any chance they'll actually get it to the correct folder by Friday, February 29th????. (mutter, mutter, mutter . . . and we thought we were so smart sending everything in in October . . . mutter, mutter, mutter. )

when i applied ED I, i was told they were missing my teacher recommendation FOUR DAYS before the ABSOLUTE deadline. luckily, i had a great teacher who called her husband, had him e-mail the letter to her so she could fax a copy from my school, and called admissions to make sure they had received it.

not the most organized admissions office, but they were all so friendly every time i talked to them

FYI, i got an email from Pomona College today saying:

"We are happy that you initiated an application to Pomona College under our Regular Decision admissions program. According to our records, we have now received all of the documents required to complete your application to Pomona. We will notify you of the Admissions Committee’s decision in early April."

So possibly if you have not received this email, then you might want to recheck your application status and make sure everything is in. Hopefully everything gets sorted out promptly for the rest of you! And good luck

Three hard copies mailed (Oct. 23; 2/12; 2/27) and one faxed copy (2/27) of the School Record Supplement . . . and not a single one has made it to kiddo's file!! The Pomona admissions folks (three different ones) are all quite pleasant, but this is extremely frustrating. Short of hand-delivering the dumb form (which is not an option considering the number of states between all the players), what's a kid to do???

In looking at that form, there really isn't anything that should be 'make it or break it' . . . other than the fact that it is missing leaves the impression that kiddo doesn't care/can't follow directions. But they've all said they are missing many of these reports. But this kid has had it sent . . . four times already! Arrrrrgggghhhhhh!

Last Admissions person GC talked to said that if a copy hasn't made it to the kid's file by next Thursday, she will personally babysit the fax machine while the GC faxes another (that will be the 5th) copy.

My mid-year is still listed as missing...

::sigh::

The missing report finally made its way to the appropriate file! The file is now listed as complete. What a hassle . . .

My file is still not complete...
I asked my counselor to send in the missing school report supplement last week and it's still not checked as received...worried...worried...

I had to personally fax a letter of recommendation. Sent it two times, wasn't received either. However, this also happened with Stanford, so I have reason to believe it wasn't Pomona's fault.
