I know for a fact that at least one of my teachers sent in my rec in October, but it still hasnt appeared on myMIT as being processed. Neither has my transcript, which I know my school sent. What should I do?

bump, does anyone know?

how do you check the status of your app after you've sent it in?

click on Online Application and Tracking, on the left side, on your MyMIT homepage

On a related note, does anyone know if MIT minds getting phone calls to confirm receipt of material? I don't want to turn into an obsessed application worrier, but I had to have the College Board dig up a test score from eighth grade to send, and it hasn't appeared yet :-/

I think when it's getting this close to the deadline, they don't mind if you call to check things.

Go ahead and call them at this point.

do you think its bad that they havent processed them if I thought they were sent in in October?

i sent act scores in late october, they didnt say the scores were processed until late november. anyways, if they really don't come by say a week before they're due, call, and chances are they'll ask you to fax your own copy, you just have to send an official one later

It's been more than two months since your teacher sent it in. If the site didn't show something processed in 2 weeks, then you should have called. 2 weeks (according to the admissions office) was the longest rollover time during this period, and that was the first week of November during EA deadline. MIT didn't get my rec because it was lost in the mailing system, so my teacher had to fax it in. You should call, but also try to contact your teacher right away, because most likely the letter was lost in the mail.

i called them and they said if they were lost in the mail I could have them faxed in next week, even though its after the deadline.

it says i need an MIT ID to see my application status on the MyMIT portal, but i don't have one. how did you guys get one?

"In order to access this section, you'll need to enter an MIT ID. Please enter it here."

Squiggle88, did you apply online? If so, you certainly have a MyMIT account. That's the only thing you need to track your application. If you haven't applied online (but sent in the paper version), I am not sure how to track everything. Maybe the other guys know better. Registering at MyMIT is certainly a good idea, anyway.

i applied on paper, but i made a mymit account a while back and got my interviewer that way. hmm, maybe i should just assume that they have everything. i'm sure they'll contact me if they don't. thanks anyway :)
