Application worth it?

Hi guys,

White Male, IL
Competitive, but not well known school (Ugh...we're new. Yet we have the brightest students in about a 15 mile radius around us)
Nearly hardest schedule our school offers(missed an of AP), strongest scores in English/Language/Social Studies

APs:
4 on APUSH
taking 3 more this year

Prospective major: Anthropology (Focus on linguistics)

3.6 UW, 3.9 Weighted (Sophomore year was...yeah), 30/325
ACT 32 (36r, 34e, 27m, 32s,8w)
Great recommendations from English teacher and German teachers, good essays

EC's:
German club 4 years, officer/treasurer

CS explorers post 4 years, officer 2 years, president this year. We do a lot of service, which is really cool.

Organizing a fine arts festival for this year (Lots of work D:) but it's been an amazing experience, seeing how much our community is willing to help support such an event.

On that note, 4 years Wind Ensemble, principal trombone. Also marching band section leader, Jazz band/Pit band

Academic Team 4 years

National Merit commended, honors award at our school, PSAE award

Work:
Summer tech help 2 years, 40 hours/wk over summer

Should I give Vandy a shot? I really love the school, and think I would flourish there, but as you can see my high school years have been high mediocre at best :)

Why wouldn't you apply? Your ACT score is well within the mid-50 percentile. You have a variety of extracurricular interests, including service, which is valued at Vanderbilt. (They might be particularly interested if they think you intend to continue with your service commitment in the Nashville community.)

I wouldn't call your high school record mediocre; you have a nice assortment of interests and activities which seem to match Vanderbilt rather well.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback! I was mainly worried about my classrank, since our school is unknown. I will most certainly apply :)
