......application....

I was just wondering, for example lets say i submit my application to ucla, is it few people that review our application and read our essays, or is like whatever department you fall under, they are the ones reviewing our application?

I know that UC Berkeley does that.

UCB does which?

I talked to a UCLA professor and he told me both. Basically if you apply to a major in College Letter of Arts and Science, the general UCLA admission board looks at application and so does advisers from CLAS.

I know for a fact that UCB sends your application to the department which looks over your application.

yes, ucb does it by department but...
anyone knows how many of them read it?
and for example
if 10 people read it. how many gotta say that its good for you to get in?

Just for clarification by department you mean the macro departments humanities department, social science department, physical science department, etc. Or do you mean micro departments such as economics department, English department, sociology department?

I think two people read it at UCB, which both assign a "said score" and if it is above a certain amount the application is accepted, but if the scores vary to a certain degree the application is reviewed by a senior admissions adviser whose said score takes precedent and is final.

by department i mean such as the math department, economics department, ....

I believe that UC Berkeley does not grade by individual departments but rather the large departments that incorporate the smaller individual departments. (ex humanities department social science department biological sciences etc.)

does ucla do the same thing as berkeley?

No they accept students by major, not department.
