For a transfer major, how hard is it to get into this program? This is the public school part of Cornell, so is it easier to get in?

3.8+ GPA Freshman year in College. What else should I do?

being public doesn't make a difference...it only means that some funding is from new york state. AEM is one of the most competitive majors, but isn't too hard to get into via internal transfer.

It's not public either. Acceptance rate into AEM is 20% for freshmen admissions (http://aem.cornell.edu/undergrad/index.htm)

http://aem.cornell.edu/undergrad/transfer_business_fim.pdf has info and requirements for intra college and intra university transfers. that won't help if you don't go to cornell.

http://www.cals.cornell.edu/Transfer_Selection_Criteria.cfm is for external transfer.

Actually, AEM is public being that it is a major in CALS, which is a public funded school of Cornell. That said, it does not mean it is easier to get into, as the previous posters have stated. The only perk is if you live in New York stae, you can receive decreased tuition.
