applied ED and got deferred and...

still haven't heard back yet. trying so hard to be patient, but heard back from all my other schools and want to make a decision. any suggestions on what i should do? or when i should be hearing back? thanks! :)

Hi…I am just a high school senior, so my opinion on your situation is essentially invalid, but here’s a possible scenario:

It is possible that TCNJ is just going through the RD applicants and waiting to make their decision on you. Because the RD deadline was 2/15 and application numbers are extremely high this year, they have loads of paper to sort through. Because you didn’t make the first cut, your acceptance pends on whether or not they you measure better than the other candidates. This means that your app may undergo multiple reviews. The process is undeniably lengthy. Don’t lose hope if you don’t get a decision soon. I would guess that you’ll hear mid-March or on the “official” date of notification, April 1st.

I would suggest that you contact an admissions officer to check your status and to make sure you’re still in the game. I would avoid checking your online status every hour though ;)

Best of luck!!!

Is there anything you may need to add to your resume since you applied? A letter to admissions saying I just want to make you aware of a new achievement … ya-da-ya-da-ya-da, and hope to be hearing from you soon since TCNJ is my top choice. Couldn’t hurt.

thanks so much! these are great suggestions, and i will definitely use them :)

I would definitely make contact and let you know you are still very much interested. I don’t know how serious you are about coming to TCNJ but when I was applying to schools I was told that it is helpful to let a college know that you will attend if accepted. Good luck!

well isn’t that obvious in applying early decision? I agreed to a binding agreement that i would attend if accepted already and they deferred me. so i need a way to reiterate that i still feel that way.

oh sorry i totally missed the part of early decision… but yes, my point was to continue to show your interest.

is it possible that deferred students will find out before April?
